Games like Syberia recommendation?
I’m in the mood to play something like Syberia or Tungaska. I’m looking for a lengthy game too. I haven’t played any in a while and just got done playing Thief 2 and 3 for the umpteenth time and I want to play something a little bit more relaxed.
Any recommendations will be appreciated, thank you.
P.S. I would like a up to date game, by the way. I have windows 7.
Nothing (for Syberia)
but for Tunguska you may try Art of Murder and Memento Mori
Will read up on them. Thanks a lot

Did you play The Longest Journey? If you didn’t, do yourself a favo(u)r and play it.
Everybody wants to be Cary Grant.
Even Me.

You might like Paradise or Amerzone, both are by the same company that did Syberia.
something like Syberia or Tunguska
Let’s see what those two games have in common:
- female protagonist
- released after 2000
- 3rd-person
- some mystery involved
- title starts with an “S”
- travel to France, Germany or Russia
Ok, let me run that for you:
and the games you should play are:
- Syberia 2 and Secret Files 2? (Who’s been screwing with this thing?)
Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale
If you liked Tunguska, then play the sequel Puritas Cordis. And definitely play Lost Horizon, which is the best game by that same team.
As for the Syberia games, the other Sokal games (Amerzone and Paradise) *might* be to your liking.
And let me add a vote for The Longest Journey (and its sequel Dreamfall).
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka

As for the Syberia games, the other Sokal games (Amerzone, Paradise and Sinking Island) *might* be to your liking.
*Fixed*
Edit: As for Syberia, Paradise is really the only game i can think of that is similar.
But there are plenty of games similar to Secret Files: Tungaska, the Broken Sword series is the first that come to mind, and as others has mentioned also Lost Horizon.
And if you haven’t played The Longest Journey and Dreamfall then they should be at the very top of your list.

I’ve played the longest journey, art of murder, longest journey, paradise. I’ve just bought Puritas Cordis. I’ve read the reviews on Amerzone and they’re not very good, so that one is out. Lost Horizon is next on my list. Thank you all so much for the recommendations.
Maybe borderline on being close to Syberia in terms of style but I’ll throw in The Moment of Silence and Culpa Innata as some possibilities you might like.
played culpa innata as well. will check out moment of silence. thank you
If you do try The Moment of Silence, then be prepared for some extremely elongated dialogs. I recently played it myself and i timed one of the conversations, it took no less then 15 minutes (read: one freaking quarter of an hour listening to two people’s blabber), with very few actual information being revealed.
And there are also other needless time consumers, like waiting for the elevator or simply transport from one place to another. I would estimate that only about 10-20% of the time spend playing this game, is actually used playing the game.
Apart from this it is not a bad game, it has a good story and some well designed puzzles, but it will wear down your patience.
If it was me i would drop it, and instead go for something like Gray Matter, Black Mirror II and III, The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav or Lost Chronicles of Zerzura. Neither is completely like Syberia or Secret Files, but they might still be games you would enjoy, based on what you have written.

I had no idea Black Mirror had 2 sequels. I played 1 ages ago. Thanks so much. Definitely on my play list.
I’ve read the reviews on Amerzone and they’re not very good, so that one is out.
Where did you find those?

All positive reviews. You are always going to find negative reviews for any game, I’m sure Syberia got more than a few.
I just finished Tunguska, and I didn’t enjoy it all that much, the last half felt a bit like a chore. Some interesting puzzles, but I found characters to be very bland, probably in large part because the voice actors sounds like their reading through the script for the first time (in my opinion anyway), and as a result, the story never engaged me. I enjoyed Lost Horizon a lot more, even though Paddock was a bit of a Geron II
Anyway, I was wondering, Secret Files 2 seems to have gotten much better reception, and I’m considering buying. How is it improved from Secret Files 1?
Duckman: Can you believe it? Five hundred bucks for a parking ticket?
Cornfed Pig: You parked in a handicapped zone.
Duckman: Who cares? Nobody parks there anyway, except for the people who are supposed to park there and, hell, I can outrun them anytime.
I just got a netbook with window 8 on it and “The Longest Journey” runs on it without a hitch. Can’t recommend that game enough
I just love this computer - best $268 I ever spent. I’m going to play all my PC adventure games on it and even maybe get a new one or two.
I also recommend “Chronicles of Mystery - tree of life” as well.
I enjoy playing adventure games on my Alienware M17 r4 and my Nintendo Switch OLED.
