Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Monday 26 November 2012
Hotel Dusk is an absolutely fantastic game. I especially liked how the characters’ backstories was progressively revealed and you started to realize that fate had brought together all these people who were all connected in some way (it was very reminiscent of early Lost—you know, back when it was good).
I can’t believe it’s been almost 6 years since its release.
I remember this game getting a very favourable review on Gamespot, and consequently I started thinking that adventure games had jumped to the Nintendo DS.
This was one of the first games I actively sought out when the missus got a DS. Haven’t regretted that at all. Very good game, with a great style, and as noir as you can get without having an actual P.I. in it…
Also, Kyle Hyde looks exactly like a friend of mine… which I didn’t hesitate to point out to him…
Sadly, he’s sticking to Halo-clones…
The sequel to this even managed to be at least as good, if not better…
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
One of those great DS adventures
I liked this one but had to force myself to play the sequel until the end, I was getting bored by the story.
I’ve never played a DS game.
Well, what are you waiting for?
Great game. But I do think the sequel is better.
