Does anyone here remember Catherine of Riven who played Atrus’ wife? I was saddened to recently learn that Sheila Goold, the original iconic Catherine, died in July of this year suddenly of unstated causes. Her memorial can be found in Seattle Times, Legacy. As you can see by my avatar the character is one of my all-time favorite game heroines. Sheila Goold personified Catherine in my mind, bringing intrigue, beauty and mystery to the part with her compelling lovely face and gestures. I loved Riven … the game literally cast a spell on me in large part because of a woman I never met but who left a huge impact on my imagination!

thats sad, she has a very memorable face, very angelic.. i hope shes in better place.
She died very young… With her, a part of the Myst universe vanishes.
I always liked her character in Riven. Was she also the Catherine who appeared in Myst 3: Exile?

Ease up soldier, it was a simple question and he gave his answer. I don’t personally remember her either having played all Myst games, but I wish her family and friends well.

That is true, but now you’re feeding a troll and the best way to get rid of trolls is to ignore them (or to ban them if you’re a mod

No, that was another actress in Exile who did a fine job. However, Exile wasn’t as compelling as Riven which imo stood alone in the Myst universe partly because of Sheila’s charismatic appearance. There was a realism to her portrayal that made you believe in a mystical character called Catherine.
By the way, there seems to be a missing post here but I appreciate the person who earlier showed sensitivity to the situation and to my question. Thank you!
