They changed, it’s now Steam Direct, no voting, you pay $100 that gets returned after you sell $1000 or something like that. If it’s a new developer there’s a waiting period for Valve to check the background.

This sounds even easier to get on the store than Steam Greenlight. $100 is nothing and anyone half serious about putting a game on the store can procure that amount. The Steam store has become super bloated, and it’s becoming harder and harder to find the rare gems in it among the piles of turd.

The person(s) making the game. Steam introduced this fee instead of the Greenlight process to try to improve the quality of the games submitted to the store, because their store is so bloated with shovelware now, that it is very difficult to sift through the thousands of games to find the few quality ones. It is not that much of a barrier to entry, so it will probably not slow down the influx of crap into the store.

Haven’t played Kona yet, but both Firewatch and The Sexy Brutale are amazing games. You can’t go wrong with either.
