Find the common denominator!
Does each one have a ghost?
Carpe chocolate.
Does each one have a ghost?
Sorry Lady Kestrel, it’s not about ghosts!
You all guessed right that it’s about the contents of the games, however its not about a specific type of object or character.
Monkey Island 2: Le Chuck’s Revenge
Runaway 3: A Twist of Fate
Anna’s Quest
The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief
Thimbleweed Park
Broken Sword: the Angel of Death
The Secret of Monkey Island would not qualify.
Nancy Drew: Phantom of Venice Nick Bounty: the Goat in the Grey Fedora would, in a way very similar to Monkey Island 2.
The first episode alone of The Raven would not qualify.
There is a murder in each game?
Do they all feature dream sequences?
Sorry BitingWit, it’s not about murders!
Do they all feature dream sequences?
That’s not it, but you’re getting close!!!

Hmm. Waking up, then? I seem to remember someone being still unconscious and possibly dead at the end of part 1 of The Raven…
You’re getting colder now Phlebas
I’ll have a guess at characters being either drugged or poisoned?
I’ll have a guess at characters being either drugged or poisoned?
Sorry chrissie, another nice guess but still not the common denominator

Runaway 3: A Twist of Fate

Thimbleweed Park

Heavy Rain qualifies.
The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes: Case of the Rose Tattoo does not.
Deciding whether Life is Strange does would be a real conundrum.
I’ll guess at Alternative Reality?
Ahh. Could it be flashbacks?
I’ll guess at Alternative Reality?
I can see why you would think that, however the answer was…
Ahh. Could it be flashbacks?
Yes! Playable flashback sequences, precisely (even though some sequences can almost take up the whole game… that’s the beauty of the narrative technique ).
Well done Phlebas, your turn again
you have forgotten Syberia2, which has the most famous flashback.. but nice catch for there are many ags that do feature flashbacks… and good job Phlebas, very persistent!
A tricky one
I don’t think I would have guessed it, no matter how many games you had posted.
You have to play the game, to find out why you are playing the game! - eXistenZ

You’re right, I can’t beleive I didn’t think of including this one!
Sorry if it was a bit far-fetched, I guess it was like one of those dreaded reverse-engineered puzzles that only make sense when you know the solution. If I ever get to give another one I’ll try to make it less devious!
