How’s Guilty compared to Innocent Until Caught?

Does Guilty live up to its predecessor in terms of both storyline and puzzles?

And does it follow the same light-hearted tone or did they turn the storyline much darker?

Not played the first one but Guilty was fun (you start off threatening to kill a cow Grin ), the puzzles were pretty fair by and large although there is one notorious piece of pixel hunting. Some seriously clichéd characters along the way but nothing truly off-putting. Can play as either of two characters, one male, one female, with slightly variable story line between the two but with definitely different puzzles. Perhaps I should have added it to the current theme of the week thread! If you can get it playing on a modern machine then worth the time involved. I certainly have fond memories of it having bought it on release rather more years ago than I care to remember Frown  Grin

The sequel to underrated Innocent Until Caught sports the same flexible game engine, with a better and longer plot. Intergalactic two-bit thief and failed womanizer Jack T. Ladd is back, but this time you can also choose to play as Ladd’s female nemesis and potential love interest, who has her own different path that converges with Jack’s near the end.

The puzzles in Guilty are not as challenging or innovative as those in the first game (there are a lot less items you can combine, for example), although they are still fun to solve. Dialogues and plot also are not as well-written this time around, but the 2 diverging paths that double the game’s replayability more than makes up for it. A fun game if you liked the first one, but nothing revolutionary. If you like tongue-in-cheek, “light” sci-fi games, and can stand cheesy dialogues and cliché plot, give this one a try. If not, play the first game, or Beneath a Steel Sky instead.
