ASA: A Space Adventure

Hi everyone, I’m here to introduce my game ASA !
Jackal has made a news article about it a few days ago (with video trailer and pictures):
http://www.adventuregamers.com/news/view/22730

ASA is a Myst-like adventure game, even if it’s first a personal experiment. It’s a kind of sequel to my short film 2011: A Space Adventure, which received good reviews and was selected by the Vimeo Staff. But I would recommend you don’t watch it before playing the game, or it would spoil you !

The game is available :
- in version 1.0 with manual installer on http://www.aspaceadventure.fr via Paypal for 6€ (around $8)
- in an updated version 1.1 standalone on http://www.desura.com/games/asa-a-space-adventure for 9.99€ (= $11,99)

What is ASA ???
ASA is a 1st-person slideshow adventure game with 3D graphisms, released on january the 7th.
This is a solo project, and the game was rated 15/20 on the french magazine jeuxvideo.com
Many people could tell you that ASA is very challenging !

English reviews :

On AG ! [rated 4/5] http://www.adventuregamers.com/articles/view/23855

http://indiestatik.com/2012/12/24/a-weekend-with-asa-a-space-adventure/

Story :
“You’re an astronaut sent to repair an old satellite. You just finished your mission when you notice a mysterious black cube drifting near you. You’re totally hypnotized by this thing and suddenly jump in the space, breaking your security cable ! That’s crazy, you seem to have forgotten all the dangers here, and when you finally catch this cube… your oxygen is low and you have no way to go back !!!
But strangely, to you, the most important is that you have this Cube in your arms, and that you won’t drop it until you’re dead ! It now seems so important and fascinating… “

Features :

- visit 9 different environments (6 areas on the main spaceship, 2 planets, 1 satellite)

- benefits of ponctual 360° views for a better immersion.

- the game presents various 3D movies and is rythmed with an original soundtrack by Karreo.

- walk in the steps of another astronaut, who will help you to find your way. Read his diary to find clues and make the storyline evolve.

This is looking terrific and we’re in bad need of more serious Sci-Fi adventures. Best of luck on Greenlight!

Hey, thanks a lot ! You were fast to answer Gasp
I didn’t make the music myself, no, but some friends of mine are making it especially for the game ! It’s funny you speak of this, I had planned to post a track from the OST on the game’s blog tomorrow. I hope you’ll come and listen, and that you like it !
For more info about the music composers, you can visit Karreo.com : they’re a french & belgian composers group looking for any kind of projects where music has a strong impact on pictures. They often make it for free, they work for passion first ! But they need to love the project, of course Smile

If you like that kind of music, you can also have a look here :  http://www.stelian.be/documents/76.html
This is the home of the main composer of ASA soundtrack. He’s a member of Karreo and his indie music is on this page.  Grin

I’m glad you like the pictures!
Just in case you didn’t see it in the description : graphics are precalculated (not realtime 3d), so it’s much easier to make good lighting ! In return it’s a slideshow game… Many people don’t like.

@Pyke : I just notice in your signature you’re playing Stasis oO Is the game released ???

Great looking graphics!
And a good trailer as well!

Makes me think of Darkstar (but without the cheese).

Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka

This game will mostly please lovers of “old-school” adventure games :
L’Amerzone, Atlantis, Cydonia, the Myst series, Rama, Rhem, Schizm, etc…

Count me in!

Maybe not santa claus, but that’s not human to make such a game (speaking of Stasis) ^.^ Graphics alone are just insane ! I know it’s not what makes a good game, but as a CG graphist I can only applaud Smile

And thanks everyone for your nice words.
