Brilliant Steve! This is exactly what I had in mind. The beach must hate all those people who come ruin it every summer.
And I’m flattered by your audio version. Thank you!

I lived in a NJ shore town and understand how the beach feels.  In the summer, I never drove anywhere on the weekends because of the traffic.

Steve, these are awesome! Thumbs Up
Extra so since we can listen to you reciting one! Cool

Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka

Actually did it because I had just found the voice notes feature on my phone. The audio seems fairly clear and the compression is pretty good for file size, so I may do some more.

Quest for Knowledge

I’m hoping to find name for game that I played long ago
The people here so well-informed, someone is sure to know
A time machine, grandfather clock, I give it to myself
Oh never mind, the box is sitting there upon my shelf

For real retro gaming nerds, name that game.

Special treat in the run-up to Christmas. Choose Your Own Poem X! The poetry creating game. Inspired by Alasdair Beckett-King’s Choose Your Own Adventure X at that gaming convention (see first half of article here. Second half including write-up of that should be up next week.)

Choose Your Own Poem X (Mac, Linux and Windows versions available)

Includes audio so make sure you have your speakers on.

Of course, if you all followed Stepurhan the Poet, you should have seen this already.  Laughing

Started on “Filing Cabinet Secrets” and it took a really weird direction. May still run with that. In the interim, here is a poem inspired by the lovely Mrs Urhan.

Feeling Married Like It’s 1999

Farewell to Franc and Deutshmark, they both just had to go
There was a new currency in town, the birth of the Euro
Pluto, then still a planet so much larger than a moon
Cycled back to its proper place out there beyond Neptune
For the most tech unsavvy, this time became quite a pisser
With their computers torn apart by the virus called Melissa
Bill Gates, the head of Microsoft, great fortune had amassed
From selling lots of Windows, 100 billion he passed
A strange sub-ocean fry-cook, a creature of great flair
First turned up on TV, yes Spongebob Squarepants on the air
You won’t find there’s an iTunes store until 2003
For seeking music downloads then, Napster’s the place to be
An ending to an era, the last of a vast fleet
The final New York Checker cab was taken off the street
In Europe and in Asia, a brief loss of daytime light
As the sun round behind the moon dipped briefly out of sight
A new games console hit the streets, but it was not to last
Perhaps you have one in your loft, the cream Sega Dreamcast
As National Geographic, members found their spirits soared
Too bad the find that caused this turned out to just be a fraud
Down in the land Down Under citizens showed they were keen
To keep on as their head of state our most illustrious Queen
Sad end to great endeavour, attempted at great cost
As it entered the atmosphere, the Mars Lander was lost

And I got hitched

To a woman of beauty and charm
Who would never do me any harm
For though she may sometimes cause strife
She definitely improves my life
And I know that I could not abide
Not having her there by my side
Through all of my hopes and my fears
Through all of the passing of years

Time it seems to stand still when you’re wed to one so fine
That’s why I’m feeling married like it’s 1999

From one of Lady Kestrel’s suggestions

Not the Blot

The problem for ink blots you see
Is one of their identity
For Rorschach’s use in his great test
Stops them from knowing what is best
They thought they knew just what they were
But now they’re just not really sure
A cat, a goat, a butterfly
Some bacon, ice, a patch of sky
As patients more meanings have tossed
Their sense of self has become lost
Their thought processes start to border
On personality disorder
So if a shrink should seek to try
By this test in your mind to spy
Just say “ink blot” once and again
And you can help to make them sane

Hahaha, I love it Grin. Have you ever published something?
