The following completely random sentence popped into my head this morning: “Dancing on the roof of the house where Lassie was born” Tongue I thought, “well, that’s weird” and was reminded of ballroom-dancing oak trees Wink So, I figured, I’ll just post it here, just in case you’d happen to get inspired (though no expectations, don’t worry Grin)

Why Lassie? I have no idea. And surely Lassie can be replaced with someone or something else… I just like the idea of dancing on the roof of the house where some somewhat random but interesting figure was born…

Also: something to do with spyglasses. Sorry, I’m being vague Tongue

Also, love the poems, especially the inkblot one! Brilliance.

...something to do with spyglasses…

Well, I’m reading the Amber Spyglass at the moment, but I can’t see myself writing a poem about it.

Come to Hastings tomorrow night and see me perform live. PM me for details, or follow Stepurhan the Poet on Facebook.

Not a great night. Small crowd and no real poetry fans in. Here’s a few poems from it anyway. Theme was “Evil Nursery Rhymes” this month. May use the two poems above next time out.

Old Murder Hubbard

Old Mother Hubbard, went to the cupboard, to fetch her poor doggie a bone
But when she got there, the cupboard was bare, because they were both on the run
For though she seemed nice, she loved to maim and slice, a serial killer you see
Police hot on their trail, they’d just shaken a tail from the scene of her last killing spree
Needed somewhere to hide, then a convent they spied, a home to the mild and the meek
There’s no way they could stand against Hubbard’s fierce hand, it was just the place that they seek
Did not wait any more, she just kicked in the door, and she slaughtered them all every one
Then dismembered with zeal, and for its evening meal, her poor little doggie had nun

The Wall Fall

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
The police wrapped up quickly, thought it cut and dried
What we have right here is just egg suicide
And all the King’s horses, and all the King’s men
They could have put Humpty together again
They’d taken a bribe, or so it is said
To make sure that Humpty would really stay dead
The reason is simple, the motive is plain
By sitting on walls he had got lasting fame
The tourists would come out, this sight would enthral
A really big egg sat on top of a wall
And Humpty was canny, he charged for the view
Though he charged a little, much cash did accrue
Relations said with them this cash he should share
But he said that for them he just did not care
So they all decided he’s better off dead
That from his last will they’d get hold of his bread
But even in death, he’d the last laugh you see
He left all his dosh to a cat sanctuary

Shone in 60 Seconds

Twinkle, twinkle little star
Distant tail lights of my car
To it now I say bye-bye
Stolen by a real bad guy
Twinkle, twinkle little car
How I wonder where you are

I’m glad to hear you got a good response.  Some random ideas: Food for thought, elephant in the fridge, or secret stairway.

Can you also make a happy poem about a car? (You know I love cars Smile; I liked Shone in 60 Seconds!).
Other ideas:
Grandfather’s Clock,
The Fly on the Wall,
Thoughts of the Beach at the Start of the Summer Season.

*Looks out of the window to little kids playing old-fashioned outside games*
How about, the thougts of a computer generation kid when playing for the first time the games their grandparents played?

More good ideas. Life has been hectic the last month but I’m hoping to get some writing time in the end of this week so expect to see some responses.

Love the nursery rhymes! I seem to be reading quite a lot of nursery rhymes recently so maybe I’ll try some of yours out on the Third Degree instead for some variation!

Also (as this is in chit chat…) a fan poem I did for no reason!
