AG Meet - Hastings - 26 May

We arrived back at my sister’s place about an hour ago, very exhausted from a great day. Smile

I think it was very well planned, and I was happy to meet some new folks from the forums, as well as some old ones.

My sister Alex and boyfriend Johannes also thought it was a day well spent (Johannes agreed with me, and Alexandra didn’t complain about anything apart from some *really* slow drivers on the way back, so that means she also thought it was a good day.).

The quizzes were a lot of fun (expecting to see those links here soon, Step. Wink ). And I felt quite proud when Fantsie commented on my Poker face (I have a Pokerface? I have a Pokerface! Wheeeee! ^_^) during tsasie’s quiz.

I hope I didn’t weird out the others who hadn’t met me before too much. If I did, I apologise, I just get quite excited when among friends and feeling safe.

Oh, and Johannes asks me to send a message: “Death to all Seagulls!”
And I’d like to second that.

Here goes with a few pictures. Living in Hastings, it didn’t occur to either Mrs Urhan or myself to take many but here a few to be going on with until others post.

The obligatory group photo.

Left to right : Fantasysci5, Louiesci5, Majsan, Johannes, Jazhara7 (seated), Jelena, Intense Degree, stepurhan (what a handsome chap in a tasteful shirt Laughing ), LostQuixote, RLacey.

Meal photo (where we all look quite sombre for some reason) Jaz’s sister is in the foreground on the right, Mrs Urhan is right at the back on the left (someone must have a better picture of her from the day.

The meet badges. Excellent design work from tsa there. Crappy photo taking using my camera phone on myself.

The bit of the dessert menu that really offended Mr Lacey’s sense of correct English (and quite rightly so)

Some random origami animals. They were supposed to be flapping birds. I don’t know why everyone had such trouble with making the flapping bird. It’s really simple. Naughty (see new signature below)

The quizzes were a lot of fun (expecting to see those links here soon, Step. Wink ).

What, post them in public and not let anyone else have a go? The very idea.

Will circulate the answer links to attendees by PM. WIll post the quiz for others in the next few days.

A couple more pictures.

Mr Lacey demonstrates how his hands are the same size as his face. Must be a medical student thing.

In old Hastings, Smugglers tried to sneak goods ashore without paying taxes. Customs men tried to catch the Smugglers doing this. But these two great enemies found themselves banding together when an even greater threat loomed over them.

Yeah, it was a really great day, brilliant to meet forumites in real life.

It was also a highly educational day as we learned about Hairy Jack, Batmen, the most literally incredible children’s ride ever and some of the most extraordinary German Jokes. Not to mention a great tour of the old town.

Thanks very much Step for putting it all together, clearly a lot of work went into it and it paid off! Thanks very much.

Looks like you got a fantasticaly sunny day or was it just the reflection off that shirt that was lighting the area up….  Cool

Looked like a lot of fun.

An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

It was the combination of that shirt, coupled with the presence of the genuine, unique evil shirt(TM), that brought out the sun. It exists! He brought it to the meeting, even if he didn’t wear it. I think if he had worn it, the sun would have gone supernova, and then you’d never be able to see these lovely photos, and would be very angry at us.

He brought it last time too IIRC.

Although the Skype conference was troubled quite a lot by technical problems I enjoyed seeing everybody. It gave me a small sense of being there. Hopefully next time my feeble body cooperates and I can join you lot again.

It was a really wonderful day. It’s been the most fun I’ve had in England (so far). Step was a great tour guide and it was awesome to see Hastings with a local and all of the little inside scoop. I really loved meeting some of our beloved Forumites.

Step-I love the new signature. That was the quote of the day. Tongue

Had a brilliant time at the meet up, was a really fun day and it was great to meet everyone who was there. I think I can safely say best tour guide ever Smile Hopefully will see you all (and more) at the next one *cough*Neuschwanstein*cough* and I’ll be sure to check out the forums more often, I’ve clearly been missing out on a lot of awesomeness.

Oh and watch out for the Desperate Housewives review, I’ve got an evening of “juicy secrets, dirty laundry and shocking mysteries” ahead of me Grin
