If you were to make an adventure game, what would it be about?

I would make a game where you CAN use anything in your inventory on everything in the game. Not just in the way using inventory items gives you a response of dialogue, I mean actually using them. It would be the best game ever made and win lots of awards.

As a kid I always loved adventures and the sense of a journey or the progression of it. I liked games where you make a long journey traveling from A to B reflecting occasionally on how long the journey has been. A real kicker for me is when it is reflected through the appearance of the characters. Maybe clothes get torn up, wounds showing or facial hair growing. Uncharted 4 did this pretty well. Megaman X(not an adventur game) also showed your progress through the physically-altering upgrades that you acquire. Teslagrad also did this.

This is also why I like JRPG’s/Metroidvania/Zelda games so much. There is a strong sense of progression as you level up and grow stronger. Enemies that once posed a problem are now felled in a few sweeps.

This is an interesting question to me because I have made many adventure games.

But none of them are “what I would make if I could make an adventure game”

I would make a dark game set in real life with many choices but no choice is the good choice.

They all end in failure. That’s what I would make.

The Walking Dead, but without the Walking Dead?

I too would make a game like that, except I’d have one choice end in success.

The problem is that if I made my game idea, no one would want to play it :-D

I like to create little adventures, e.g. for paper & pencil roleplaying, but I love all kinds of genres: science fiction, fantasy, horror (esp. lovecraft style), cyberpunk.

In the Corona lockdown I developed a framework to do different kinds of small adventures and created stories for my choir and as a wedding present for a friend.

Now a friend of mine who does art and I have created two small fantasy adventures with funny stories borrowing from Arthurian legend and fairy tales.

You can play them here:
Tiny Adventures

I would be interested in feedback!

Hello

I have just finished this graphic adventure that is set in the twelfth century on the life of Eleanor of Aquitaine, Queen of France and later of England.

It’s inspired by classic games, you have to handle about 50 objects
it’s free (for mac and windows) and I’ve uploaded it here:

Hopefully the lovers of the genre will play it and tell me what you think!

Greetings to the whole community!!
