Best adventure game series with two or more free episodes?

Hi there,

I’ve really enjoyed the following adventure game series:
The Apprentice I & II by Herculean Effort Productions;
Ben Jordan: Paranormal Investigator 1-8 by Grundislav Games;
Christmas Quest trilogy from adventuregamers.com;
The John DeFoe Quadrilogy from fullyramblomatic.com;
King’s Quest remakes by AGD Interactive;
and Nick Bounty 1 & 2 by Pinhead Games.

Does anyone know of any other adventure game series with two or more free episodes?

Sure, there are plenty.

But it would help if you would narrow the scope somewhat. I mean, it is unclear to me if you are looking for freeware games, or just some series where you get a free episode to evaluate some later P2P episodes.

Also, are fan games OK? Text adventures?

But anyway, at least in the Sleuthhounds series a couple of games are free, the rest you need to pay for.

From the depths of my memory:

the Larry Vales trilogy (some of the first AGS games, I remember laughing a lot)
Space Quest: Vohaul Strikes Back and Incinerations fan games (quality!)
King’s Quest: Silver Lining fan mini-series (haven’t played it actually, but it launched Phoenix Online’s commercial career)

The Barn Runner series of games are free and some of the funniest games I have ever played. Also made with AGS.

Also The Visitor is a 3 game series which is well worth checking out.

Space Quest: Vohaul Strikes Back and Incinerations fan games (quality!)

There are plenty of Space Quest fan games and remakes, this page has the most notable ones nicely in one place:
http://spacequest.net/misc/fanfiction/fangames/

There’s also Space Quest 7 Mania which is like Maniac Mansion Mania, a series where anyone can contribute a fan game. I think MMM is close to 100 episodes, but Space Quest Mania has only two so far (that I am aware of):

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/2472-space-quest-7-mania-episode-2/

Of course all this is irrelevant, if the OP isn’t asking for fan games.

But there’s also a series inspired by Space Quest, Cosmos Quest:

First episodes are free, latest ones you must pay for.

King’s Quest: Silver Lining fan mini-series (haven’t played it actually, but it launched Phoenix Online’s commercial career)

It should be noted though that the series was never completed, so the last episode will be coming, if it’s ever coming, some time later.

But if the person asking wants to try King’s Quest remakes, there’s another remake of the third game by another team:

There are some others as well:

The Trilby series of games. Great story. Games were developed by well-know gaming critic Ben Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation.

Hi there,
The John DeFoe Quadrilogy from fullyramblomatic.com;

Those are actually the same games. Definitely good enough to mention twice though! Wink
