Hi, after gatecrashing your meeting, I thought I should at least send some pictures your way.
Though be warned, most of the pictures are of scenery. And bells.

Cheers,
Alex

Wow that’s great! Beautiful pictures! Now finally I get an idea of where you went and what you did! Such a pity I couldn’t be there Cry. Oh well, Jazzy will organise a splashing get-together next year so I get another chance of meeting you all.

He is in the Fisherman’s Museum.

Will be tweaking my notes to cover what we actually did on the day (and including Letter Quiz locations on the route) over the weekend. Will send them out to anyone that has PMed me for them after that.

Oh never mind, the box is sitting there upon my shelf

I still would like to know some more details about the day. What did you do? What was the quiz like? What did you see?

The tour quiz was all about spotting letters at various points around the walk route. You had to spot the letters from the close-ups I provided and say what the full word they appeared in was. The letters spelt out ‘AG Forums Meet’

Doh, I knew I should have walked around the other side of that museum but I was quite glad to sit by that point Smile

Brief version of the tour. Apart from the group shots at the start, Ridicully’s pictures are pretty much in the order things would have been seen on the walk.

Met in the modern town centre. Popped into the General Havelock for a so-so attempt at Skyping, then headed west. Went up the hill in the West Hill Lift.

Went across the top of the hill looking across Hastings Old Town and went into the St Clements caves (the dark pictures from Ridicully’s portfolio are in the caves). When we came back out of the caves we took the group photo in front of the Upper Light, a guide light for fishing boats.

Walked down the hill to St Clements church (the church just below the group shots) then along to the Christopher Foyle’s house (for TV purposes) through a Twitten (local name for a narrow footpath between buildings) and broke for lunch.

Along Old Town High Street and across the main road to All Saints Church, where I showed people the bells (lots of pictures of those) and explained about bellringing.

Down All Saints Street to the Piece of Cheese Cottage (just after church photos), up another Twitten that went through someone’s house to halfway up a hill. Saw a plaque that obliquely referred to a royal being naughty (see first marriage here

Went down some steps off the hill and visited Hastings Fishermen’s Museum. (Also shelter from the sun)

Went back west past the Winkle statue dedicated to the Winkle Club (the site shows the old giant winkle sculpture. The shiny thing next to last in Ridicully’s pictures is the current one) Then along George Street past Butler’s gap, home to these chess sculptures, and along to The Italian Way for the meal.

There we did more quizzes, attempted to fold birds, and drank a LOT of iced water. We sat upstairs with views out across the sea.

Nice! You did more than we did in Amsterdam Smile. How were the questions Jelena and I made up received?
