Guess what - TCotGI apparently requires a game controller. Shifty Eyed

There’s a huge joystick-looking thingy rotating incessantly in the splash screen of the game, to boot.

No way! Didn’t I post that I don’t have a controller? Yes, I did. And I played the game. The only logical conclusion is that you don’t need a controller. Download the demo and see for yourself.

Huh? No idea what you mean. In the trailer perhaps?

EDIT: If you’re going for the demo (or the game) the devs recommend turning “highlights” on. Being unable to locate the last clue you need is very frustrating. Of course random clicking will get you there in the end.

I mean this:

Here’s what gave me the idea that a controller is needed:

Mouse. Click on clues. Click to change screens. Click and drag to fill the blanks in the thinking panel.
Download the free demo and try it.  TRUST ME!

EDIT: Ah, you meant, has the idol any buttons and switches? Sorry. Shifty Eyed
That’s for you to find out.

I trust you, but I also trust my eyes, and when I click on that bar (show controller layout) I get this:

I’m not saying it’s not possible to play the game with a mouse, but it sure is meant to be played with a controller too.

I started the game and the interface looks pretty complicated. It will take some time to get used to it.
Then again it also took quite some time to get adjusted to the Obra Dinn interface and it was well worth it.
I’m hooked.

Either mouse or controller. Goes for many, if not most, modern adventures.
If you look at one of the trailers you see a mouse moving across the screen.
I never bothered to look at the controller settings.

EDIT: You’ll get used to the interface in no time. Don’t worry. Obra Dinn was much more complicated.

EDIT2: If there is one thing I don’t like, it’s that the Thinking Panel actively invites guessing and bruteforcing. Making an effort to figure everything out is much more satisfying than bruteforcing because you didn’t fully understand what was going on. I watched a few people on Twitch fall into that trap, but I don’t think you will.  Smile

I’d like to join The Case of the Golden Idol. Haven’t finished the game yet, it’s been lying on my drive for half a year, and it’s easier to replay it from scratch now, especially with this new dlc.

I am really sorry I am so missing lately, but I am translating and testing a huge game, and well, I guess a picture speaks a thousand words…

That been said, I won’t be joining a CPT anytime soon, maybe after Summer.

Currently translating Strangeland into Spanish. Wish me luck, or send me money to my Paypal haha

It’s Saturday, May 20. I hope people are still interested in the CPT. I’ll post the new thread later today.
