Searching for a Song and an Adventure Game

I think about the middle of last year I’d looked up an Adventure Game song playlist on youtube - All the favourites were there such as the Monkey Island theme as well as Gabriel Knight, etc. when I came across a new song I hadn’t heard before and it also showed a scene from a point and click adventure game.

From memory the song sounded like it was sung by Raleigh Holmes from The Scarlet Furies and the game looked like it could’ve been a Daedalic game with a pretty hand drawn background The gameplay was of a girl strolling around a small town (could’ve been a desert town?) ducking in and out of shops while the song was playing in the background.  It seemed like the game was made within the last ten years.  I’ve since tried finding the playlist but it seems like I can’t find it or that particular video was deleted.

Anyone have any idea what I’m talking about?

Gray Matter was my first thought, too.

I hope OP does not disappear like the last “What game is this?”-person did.

It’s getting frustrating to never find out if you were wrong or right.

No it isn’t those songs but I actually managed to figure it out with the help of another thread about original songs in adventure games!

It turns out my memory is pretty terrible as the girl wasn’t walking around the town.  It was the menu screen for Dying for Daylight!  And the song is Young Goodman Brown which is performed by the Scarlet Furies!

Thank you for your help everybody! Grin

Is that this game?

Yes it is!  I haven’t actually played it.  Does anyone know if it’s good?

It’s a hidden object game.
It was published in February 2011 according to Mobygames.
Also the earliest posts in the archived Big Fish forums are from February 2011

It’s not my favorite hidden object game because I like them more for puzzle variety and this game had very little.
I’ve read posts from hidden object game fans who liked it a lot though.
They thought it had humor.
I thought it had groans.
I wasn’t impressed by the puzzles.

So while I didn’t care much for it, someone else might—especially if they enjoy hidden object games.

If someone is a fan of the Charlaine Harris books, and are looking for an interesting representation of Dahlia, the player character, they’ll probably be disappointed. I read the description of Dahlia over at Wikipedia and it’s nothing like the character in the game.

I played it years ago, and quite liked it. But it ended in the middle. I waited for a sequel for a long time, then gave up.

The real problem with reality is the lack of background music.
