I didnt try latest Splintercell, but this has be worst stealth game i ever tried.
Lack of Eric ambient music killed it, heck Dishonored made the ambient music/sound right.
The sound design overall is C-.

And them Automatic jumps. Coupled with teenage thief drama….can’t take it.

Going to return it.

Onto Castlevania2.

Edit:

Great, finally justice

You see my post above i didnt post Edge Wink, they dont know shit.

Anyway played CV2 for 3 hours straight, and its A+ tier stuff, production,
presentation, music etc. Story is amazing , Gabe is complete badass,
its darksiders2 of 2014. Having super fun with puzzles and gameplay.
(I hated Castlevania LoS 1 btw) Smile

I think TR and DX were great reboots, thief however is worse effort than
Hitman.

So how is this game worse than Thief 3?

Anyways, I’m going to play this game myself since lately I’m thinking all these reviews have become way too pretentious. I find myself enjoying games rated 5/10 and some of the best games were event rated that low. So the average is 6.5? Thats actually still pretty good.

Thief3 was redeemed by

1. Eric Brosius (composer of Sytemshock2 and Thief series)
2. Shalebridge cradle
3. Factions from 1 and 2.
4. Garret with original VA
5. Old Iconic cutscenes.
6. Story extended from old base.

Both Xbox and PC above 80 metacritic.
It was well recieved and i liked it too.

(Thief4 removed jumps, climbing or platforming, you just need to hold one button,
garret auto manage himself. Heck even Dishonored had so many jumps,
across rooftops , climbing ledges, doublejumps, jumps on Tallboys and whatnot.
Now thats gameplay).

Well…...that does suck. You pointed out some pretty great things about Thief 3 that I overlooked now that I think about it since it came out the same time as Deus Ex 2 which I felt was a sad time for gaming in general. I have Thief 3, so I’ll have to give it a try. Actually come to think of it, Thief 3 had some of my favorite cutscenes ever in gaming.

I’m just going to rent this game so I can still enjoy it for what it is without feeling ripped off.

It’s a shame, but this game looks well dissapointing.

Dishonored raised the bar too much and this game had too much of a troubled development.

An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

Yes, there are some filling chapters, and last 5% game is real drag.
Otherwise great game. The stealth and frustrating sections that reviewers hating are
actually super easy if you know what to do. They played it wrong.
Finished it in 15hours, loaded with epic boss fights and killer gothic environments.

Harvey smith knew his shit well, and luckly got talented studio (Arkane) to execute the vision. Now arkane has two games in the making, cant wait.

But it begs to question, do you really have to play a game that innovates everything just to enjoy it? I’ve heard plenty of folks enjoying it for what it is, a decent game. Its not like it was rated 2/10 across the board. The lighting effects in the game are actually quite amazing, giving credence to the possibilities of the newly appointed current gen visuals.
