You serious? This is one of the best games I played recently. To each their own I guess.

I’m talking about the 2013 reboot. Haven’t played Rise of the Tomb Raider, I was too disappointed about the reboot’s focus on shooting and lack of puzzles and exploration.

The 2013 version is better than Rise. I agree there is emphasis on shooting, but the shooting is well done and fun and it borrows from the Uncharted games model. If you are not into shooting though, I can see how you wouldn’t like it.

Still play:
AGs, RPGs (only turn based like Divinity and Shadowrun. Never play JRPGs) and some action/adventure like Mirror’s Edge and Splinter Cell

Fed up:
Everything else. FPS genre still hasn’t grown a brain

Yes, it has Smile

Favorite genre I would like to play more but don’t have time is RPGs.
Rest of favorites - Platformers (3d and 2d), Action/adventure (linear and open-world), FPS (action and immersive), volleyball, survival horror,

Genres I used to like but now not so much - RTS, MMORPG (warcraft), Online shooters (TF2), sports (football and basketball)

Never my thing - Racing simulators, MOBAs (never even tried to play), Rhythm games (only Ghuitar Hero for a while), Rogue-likes.

Fighting games fall in a category that I like playing but not enough to get decent so give up everytime I go online.

ARPG like souls are best, getting fed up with western RPGs busy openworld filler
Immersive sims i cannot get enough of, so even mid tier works same for survival horror
Hacknslash,Fighters are top stuff (mostly if made in japan)

Action Adventure works occasionally , but again forced openworld making it a grind

Never got into MMOs,MOBAs,RTS etc

Shooter is indeed fading, but with likes of Titanfall, borderlands, there is hope for innovation and fun

AGs new take of walkin sims and Indies are re invigorating charm

JRPG is coool but hardly anyone can pull it properly , so its killing itself

Never my thing - Racing simulators

But wat about Mkart,wipeout,GT

Can’t agree more. With open world, it is becoming really hard to keep up with games due to their enormous length, especially when the open world itself just pads the game and is not too fun. Far Cry 3 had a pretty reasonable map for example, but I gave up in the middle of Far Cry 4 as the map was like almost twice the size. Bigger map does not mean better game. I might be one of the very few who prefers the shorter on-rails experiences with no unnecessary padding. I understand why companies add open world though, because journos would destroy you if you don’t.

What’s an example of immersive sim you play?

nomadsoul - 28 January 2018 09:58 PM

RTS etc

Never was a fan of warcraft, C&C or Starcraft?

Unfortunately, shooter is mainly morphing to multiplayer GAS. Rainbow Six Siege is number one seller for ubi, Overwatch is killing it, COD is still COD and obviously PubG. Single player shooters like Prey or Wolf 2 did not sell well this year. I can’t wait for B3, but I hope it won’t be another GAS crap.

As they say with open worlds, as expansive as sea, depth of a pond

Pacing is huge issue, replaying DS2 , Okami made me realize even with huge worlds you need to bring more exciting factor from moment to moment

In farcry types if you have played 6 hrs, you are basically done for all game

I also think HZD had great pacing, 20 hrs flew by for main campaign and extra stuff was solid content thats more meaty say than UC4 traversal/exploration

What’s an example of immersive sim you play?

All, Prey, DXMD, DishonoredOutsider etc
problem is , only limited Devs like Arkane,SE have good skills of pulling it off
Arkane revere those games so make them still, market and profits are shrinking
DXMD bombed too, and only confirmed upcoming games are Systemshock remake and 3
I hope Prey2 makes it
And i loved them since Ultima series, then SS2, Thief, DX etc
Like Survival horror , dying genre

Never was a fan of warcraft, C&C or Starcraft?

Nope
Only RTS i finished were Myth 1&2, Battlerealms, Commandos series, Giants and Halowars
I wanted to to try recent Homeworld by Gearbox, but didnt get a chance

Unfortunately, shooter is mainly morphing to multiplayer GAS. Rainbow Six Siege is number one seller for ubi, Overwatch is killing it, COD is still COD and obviously PubG. Single player shooters like Prey or Wolf 2 did not sell well this year.

Yes FPS and Multiplayer are must, else short life
R6 is super technical shit, and a great one for hardcore players, i got rekt pretty quickly, need a squad and full coordination , cant play solo lone wolf

I can’t wait for B3, but I hope it won’t be another GAS crap

Dont trust Randy Smile

Still playing:

RPGs (mostly old ones)
Story-driven games (no matter the genre)
Puzzlers (if they show something innovative like Gorogoa or Fez)
Arcade hack’n'slash (think of hyperlight drifter, not diablo)
Hotseat multiplayer onesreen games
Adventure Games (only if in the mood nowadays)
Turn-based (tactical, strategy, rpg)
Top-down and isometric games
Experimental (no genre is the best genre -

)

Got fed up with:

New mediocre adventure games that doesn’t show anything new
FPS (since half-life era. with the exception of really unique gameplays or hybrids like System Shock 2 and Prey)

Never liked (or played):

Fighters (except SF2)
Racing games with cars and spaceships (although I did enjoy Lotus back in the time)
Sport games
Tycoons (otherwise I like simulations, with different parameters and strange results)
RTS (although I liked Starcraft 1)
Action-Adventures
jRPGs (but maybe that’s just because I’m a PC)
MMO games (except Fonline. It’s genius)
RPGs that are actually not RPGs
Survival horrors (except Silent Hill)
Stealth games
Almost all AAA games

—————-
Platformers are a win or lose in my case

My favourite genre is AGs.

Then RPGs (Witcher, Elder Scrolls, Might and Magic)

Then Action-Adventures (Batman Arkham, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry)

Then Platformers (although the only recent one I’ve played and loved was Hollow Knight)

I don’t hate stratedy games but I’m so bad at them that I usually try to steer clear.

And I’m not interested in FPS, Survival Horror games, survival games, Rogue-likes, MOBAs and MMORPGs.

Tongue you got it
But talking about actual volleyball, I remember spending hours playing Kings of the Beach on Dos

Arcade racing I liked - old Need for Speed games and specially Burnout 3, after PS3 era never pulled me again. Got Drive Club anf GT for PS4 but never got into it.
Got Forza Horizon 3 recently, I do want to try it out.
MKart was and is an excellent party game (8 DS systems linked brings up memories!!!), online I don’t like it much.
