Wow, just wow. Seriously, after beating the game, how could anyone come to the conclusion that this series is okay or already done? Everything about it is well thought out. From beginning to end. It was a pleasure to play.

What sucks the most? The game shares 45% of the overarching concept in a game i’ve been writing for the past 5 years.

Finished the game. Amazing experience and ending. So many little details that I’m now reading about!

Was reading through the spoilers in this thread and:

Just finished the game.

A game like this probably needs to be played more than once. However, if you want to cut to the chase…

Booker was haunted by the horrible things he did as a young man, first at wounded knee when he gunned down women and children, then in china, and and then as Pinkerton when he beat up strikers as a mercenary. Then he met his wife and turned his life around and started working as a private investigator. But his pregnant wife dies and his life turned to shit, and he ends up shooting himself in his office after falling into despair.

So he’s in purgatory and his unborn daughter Elizabeth is his guide. Whenever he goes astray (dies) without her around he returns to his office, where his journey begin. They travel together through Columbia exploring the past and the future and what might have been and what still could be. Booker confronts his past as a soldier through Slade. Then he confronts his life as a strikebreaking Pinkerton through Fink. All the while he’s haunted by his vices through Comstock. He even confronts the ghost of his wife through Lady Comstock. Finally, he defeats them all and conquers his inner demons. He sees the infinite and uncontrollable nature of the universe as something not to fear but to accept, and finally is allowed to pass on into darkness and peace.

Well, that’s a different interpretation. Smile I don’t see it but it’s interesting.

Also did anyone else nearly drop your controller at the one jump scare in the game. I crapped myself.(not literaly)

You’re talking about the top of Comstock house when you open the door to Elizabeth’s torture chamber and and you turn around one of those security alarms guys is just behind you?

It was nicely done. I almost fell of the chair at that part!

I can’t wait to look at all these spoiler-tagged posts and add a bombload of my own.

I’d heard stuff about a sort of decline, but it really seems to me that it’s going from strength to strength.

Totally felt like such a dick when Elizabeth sees that you’ve not set a course for Paris when you first get to the airship, and subsequently felt slightly dispirited when she’s all angry at you afterwards. Good character-work in this game, I think. So good to see an AI character who you actually like having around who isn’t constantly walking into traps and getting killed.

Alyx Vance > Elizabeth Tongue

Concerning Bioshock Infinite from a gameplay perspective, not really big spoilers but still

I think playing on normal the game ends up being kind of easy without needing to use lots of the vigors or other guns. The Machine gun/Possession/Electricity resolved most of the games encounter in my playthrough without the need to use the sky-lines or hooks. And the game is not shy on giving health and ammo every corner. If I ever try another run I’ll probably go for that 1999 mode that seems more interesting.

This game gets so much better on repeated playthroughs. Here’s something I picked up my second time around…

Booker misleads Elizabeth in order to get her onto the airship.

I’ve noticed that too. I’ve started the game again and I’ve already seen little things that I missed before. I usually spend my time enjoying the atmosphere, story and so on in games, but there’s just loads if little things going on in this game.

Erm… Quick question,

I’m having a technical issue here which I don’t think is the games fault.

I’ve hooked my pc up to my HDTV instead of my monitor. It seems like some games work fine, but others just don’t do anything. I just get a blank screen when I click play. So far, Resonance and Bioshock Infinite are the only games that won’t work. I’m guessing its a resolution problem, but I’ve tried to mess around with that and nothing seems to work…any ideas?

Recently completed: Game of Thrones (decent), Tales from the borderlands (great!), Life is Strange (great!), Stasis (good), Annas Quest (great!); Broken Age (poor)

Alyx Vance > Elizabeth Tongue

Can’t say I agree when Alyx doesn’t do all that much for the player other than be hot and show up at various points in the game. Liz wins me over as the best partner AI and someone I care more for in a game (slightly higher than Alyx and Eli Vance. Wink )

But in Episode 1 she handled the shooting (and invented D0g bofore) Smile

I know. Grin Yet I wouldn’t consider her an escort in gameplay terms. It was nice to see a game which handled it without feeling like an escort. Grin It gave that much needed personality to the benign room searching experience.

Well, I’ve finally finished the game. I really enjoyed the plot and the analysis nomadsoul posted. Fascinating stuff!

However, I stand by my previous statements. The game is fun, it’s colorful, incredibly detailed in some ways, but in many ways also quite dull. This charming guy from videogamer.com summed it up way more coherently than I ever could (beware the spoilers).

That video smack of someone trying to increase traffic by being contrary to most other reviewers.

He had some valid points but spent way too much time nitpicking on the smallest things, criticising it for being a game or for being something he expected it to be and wasn’t.

He should stick to reviewing what was actually in the game and not what he wanted to be in the game.

An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

Considering the video is called “Everything Bioshock Infinite Gets Wrong” I think he does a pretty good job at covering that.

I agree with the point about the “museum” feel of the city. The game looks amazing but even the best graphics can never replace interactivity.

My opinion of the game went WAY up after I finished it. It’s an incredible story, even if all the shooting doesn’t appeal to me.

Also many promises are not fulfilled and realized, during six years so much was
talked about by Levine, but i guess Irrational atleast handled the troubled project
well after so many cuts.

There are things that can be expanded and explored in gameplay and story through DLC.

I also agree with Kuze , i also felt some games with low marketing and hype like
adventure game Shadow of Destiny/Memories did more smartly in TimeParadox, plot with
so much to bend yourself and get different outputs rather than same linear path.
Breakdown also comes to mind which did Timeline thing better IMO.

That video was made by someone who misunderstood Bioshock Infinite, I think. The comments about the game’s story and feel are kind of reductive. The second half of the game fundamentally fits in with the first half since the story is really about a man coming to terms with violent acts he committed under the guise of a specific narrative. Having the story then take a turn with trans-dimensional travel highlights that there isn’t one grand narrative - there are an infinite number of multiple perspectives and narratives. Booker can choose his destiny.

And the game doesn’t feel like a museum to me - the content felt meticulously designed where every piece of art work and dialogue is used to flesh out the themes and motifs so I can understand why the interaction is limited. This isn’t like Duke Nukem where you’re messing around with the set dressing “just because” or GTA with its distracting game elements like the relationship simulator.
