XCOM, Now Third Person

So…this is old, but somehow news to me as no one talked about it anywhere? Was I the only one looking forward to an immersive unique take on XCOM? Now it seems they switched to a Third Person Team Based game….if I wanted that, I’d play Enemy Unknown. Why the hell did ignorant fans have to ruin it for Fans who like anything XCOM and genuinely great FPS games? I was interested to see how XCOM would handle research, missions, and more with a robust story.

Not to mention the aliens were freakin awesome! They looked so cool. WTF!

Game suffered some serious development issues , i am surprised that they are atleast
not totally killing it and going safe with digital release like I am Alive.

Jordan Thomas of Cradle and Fortfrolic fame also left for BioInfinite team.

So all the debate of RTS vs FPS vs Thirdperson, were the same directional issues
makers faced and constantly delayed uptill now.

I can’t see why an awesome reimagining on par with the quality of Bioshock and its non-linear gameplay wouldn’t be an awesome contribution to the XCOM universe. We already had some pretty shitty spinoffs to XCOM which everyone ignores, then finally a proper spinoff comes and its blackmailed, tar and feathered, etc. It was really uncalled for. The game was going to offer a unique take on the world. Sort of like a game version of ‘Dark Skies’. Meh Am I the only level headed fan of XCOM that wanted to see this game?

I too liked it , but majority of other people including Xcom fans badmouthed it
too much on main gaming forums.Lets see how the actual product holds up.

It’ll be a generic gears of war clone I bet. Meh It’ll probably also focus on coop/multiplayer moreso than a definitive singleplayer experience. Meh

Same struggle BioInfinite went through, atleast Kenlevine could fight it to
certain extent, still majority people left Irrational.
Don’t know if its 2K bothering both BI and XCOM for marketing purposes or what,
but man this is the exact reason i was so relaxed and happy over Dishonored that in these mainstream times somehow Dishonored delivered me same oldschool experience
like Thief. I hate marketing and profits based mass targeting but that i am
afraid is beginning , things will go worse next gen. What happens????

IPs like Dragonage, Diablo and now XCOM gets the bullet and go crap generic as you said. Going digital with XCOM also means cutting distribution costs. I think they went too far to call the whole game off, still you should be happy that there is respite
in the form of recent XCOM release.

I just hope Dishonored goes to show 2K that you can’t rely just on the generic gold thumb of copying other games and playing it safe. There are so many games that were hounded and shot down by fans because it was ‘not true to source’, but they turned out amazing.

Bioshock Infinite shouldn’t have any more problems. Though its being released next year in hopes of not being downplayed with the recently released Dishonored. That said, the new BI trailer looks….SPECTACULAR!!!

Yup i remember Fallout3 protests and after release everyone liked it.

Dishonored sold Half a million in both UK and US combined on all platforms,
will hit million by end of the year i guess, biggest new IP launch in UK
and outperformed XCOM. Thats great news, have to say Bethesda marketing and
reviews set the positive buzz in motion.

Then again, it leads to the idea that releasing a game under a new name will bring praise. Meh Despite the game being an exact copy in a different form.
