Lucy Dreaming - A retro, pixel-art point & click demo out now!

Hi everyone,
This is my very first post in the forum and I’m afraid I’m going to cheapen the whole thing by shamelessly promoting my new point & click demo that I’m hoping to fund on Kickstarter in May. Laughing

I’m here for two reasons.
Promotion - I want you to play my game, love it, back it and generally be part of something that means the world to me.
Feedback - Your opinions can help make the game so much more, so if you have the time, please let me know what you think of it!

The pitch!
Lucy is a young girl with a sharp wit and a recurring nightmare! Your job is to guide her through the game to discover the secrets of “lucid dreaming” (you see what I did there?) and finally unearth the truth behind her nightmare. There will be a variety of satisfying puzzles which cross between the dream world and reality, with a difficulty level similar to classics like DOTT and Monkey island (without the monkey wrenches).

There are also some modern perks like a hotspot display, instant travel between scenes and a pared-down SCUMM interface. I also added hot-keys for quick verb-selection which is a feature I personally love!

Lucy Dreaming is my love-letter to the 90s LucasArts classics, created by someone who grew up playing and adoring titles like Monkey Island, DOTT and Maniac Mansion.
The game’s sarcastic, British humour is inspired by the likes of Blackadder and Monty Python, and is brought to life with retro pixel-art graphics and a fully-voiced cast.

Download the demo
You can download the demo for free from Steam, or DRM-free from Itch.io.
It’s available for Windows, Linux and MacOS too.

I really like how this looks. I don’t play demos because I like to experience the entire game as one fresh experience, but count me in when the KS goes up.

Thank you, that’s awesome!
I feel EXACTLY the same way about demos!
Which is why this demo is actually a mini-episode/prequel to the full game, so although some of the scenes and characters will appear in the full game, the actual puzzles and character dialogue are unique to the demo, so there are no spoilers or repetition if you play both. Laughing

Still haven’t played the demo, but backed anyway. I like what I heard from Tom on an adventure game podcast interview. Lookin’ forward, folks!

Thank you so much for your support!!
I’m always worried how I’m going to come across on interviews!  Wink

It might also be worth mentioning that we’ve now FUNDED on Kickstarter, and we’re now working towards our first stretch goal of the campaign - voice overs!

We have just released a version of the Lucy Dreaming demo with an interface and subtitles localised for German, Spanish, Italian and Russian speakers!

Thank you!
Due to the comparatively low budget that we’ve had to work to on the demo itself, the localisation has been kindly done for us by adventure game fans and other indie game developers who believe in the game!

Feedback
If you spot anything in one of the new languages which seems out of place, or could be improved, please send us a message. It may be just a demo, but we want it to be the best it can be!

Saved games
Also, we have tested the game saving functionality in the new release against games saved with the previous release and, although we found everything to work correctly when tested, there’s a possibility that some saved games may reveal a few bugs with the audio and text outputs. If this occurs, I’m afraid that you may have to start the demo again. At least it’s only a relatively short game!

We’re still on Kickstarter!
We funded within one week, but we’re still reaching for our stretch goals until 26th May. If you haven’t backed the game already, head on over to our Kickstarter page.

Lucy Dreaming now has less than one week to go on Kickstarter!

Thank you so much to eveyone who has backed the game so far, we’ve had an intense few weeks on Kickstarter and are so close to our voice over stretch goal I can almost smell it!

If you haven’t already, please consider backing the game and bagging yourself a reward before it’s too late.

Lucy Dreaming only has 58 hours left on Kickstarter!! 😲
We’re confident there are enough potential backers out there to help us smash our stretch goals.

Can you help us find them? 🙏

Lucy Dreaming is coming to iOS and Android!

We have hit our second stretch goal on Kickstarter and now have just over a day to reach our next goal which will see the game translated with German subtitles.

Please help us spread the word!

Was happy to see the funds transfer from my account to yours this afternoon, Tom. Congrats on a successful Kickstarter. Can’t wait to play your game.

I’ve played Lucy Dreaming for a little under an hour now. Absolutely charming. I have laughed, grinned, and chuckled several times already. Can’t wait to play more.
I’ll be writing a review of this game for another site, so don’t want to spill too many beans just yet, but I’m really enjoying myself so far.

So here I am playing Lucy Dreaming for around 4 or 5 hours and what do I find but upon meeting a new character but Dominic Armato’s voice speaking to me. I know this was common knowledge to backers of the game but I really wasn’t expecting it and it blew me away!

Did you ever get around to writing that review? I’d like to read it. I still haven’t finished the game but am enjoying it a lot.

I played this demo a few times already - I have been thinking of buying the game. I really enjoyed it. It was quite easy, but, as a demo, I guess they don’t make it too hard..  Enjoyable game, for sure.
