Hey I was recently introduced to this little-known game that pays tribute to the Maniac Mansion era but with the sensibilities of later adventure games. Apparently it runs on Commodore 64 but you can download a version that automatically starts the game without having to fiddle with an emulator.

EDIT: Oh actually it seems the game is not finished, this is only the beginning of the game. Still, it is pretty fun and worth a try.
