The White Door

Good morning, Mr Hill
How are you feeling today?

Been looking forward to this for a while!

I’ve been quite engrossed by those games so looking forward to this next one!
...postponed to January 9.

I just recently found out about these games and binged them all. What a wild ride.
Have you played the commercial ones too, Rusty Lake Paradise, Roots, Hotel? And Cube Escape Paradox with its great short movie? I hope the developers will do another combination of game + film, but they said in an interview there wasn’t much chance of that.

YES! I first saw them on Steam, and thought they were just games in a goofy Victorian setting with animal people. I didn’t get why people said they were inspired by Twin Peaks. Also didn’t know they had a long crazy backstory.
Cube Escape: Time to Party
Apparently there’s a whole series of those Cube Escapes.
I’ve been planning to try Rusty Lake games for a long while, but my latest hobby (and my general laziness) spoiled it.
P.S. Thanks for the info!

If you’re serious about trying them and want to get the most out of the story, start with the first one (Seasons) and play them in chronological order.
BTW, what’s your latest hobby…?
See you around, wolf. Nerissa
Thanks for the advice. If I ever get to play Rusty Lake games I’ll play them chronologically, as I always do in every series.
As for my hobby, I’ll give you a hint: it’s something you can’t do in the Netherlands.
No, it’s not slave trade!

So you either took up moutainclimbing or skiing. In your sixties. Cool!
No, it’s not slave trade!
Slave trade?? Where does that come into it? And the Dutch most certainly traded slaves a few centuries ago.

You got it! I tried to stand on skis only once in my lifetime and nearly ended in a frozen brook at the foot of a hill, so that’s not it.
Then again the crew I’m traipsing the mountains with is crazy about skiing, so… Who can tell?
Maybe I’ll start skiing when I’m seventy.
In your sixties. Cool!
Yes, I’m a slow starter, like Bukowski. But I’m not in my sixties yet! I’m young middle-aged!!!

I meant nowadays.
Now let’s get back to those fine Rusty Lake games.

The White Door is here! Yoohoo!
Only 2.79 euro (3.29 - 15%) on Steam.

I wish it were on GOG, but that’s life - you can’t have it all.

I finished the game and loved it. The gameplay is somewhat different and there’s no inventory this time, but the Cube Escape atmosphere is unchanged. The puzzles are generally quite easy. It took me about 3 hours*, with only a few achievements unlocked, so I’m going to replay the game and hopefully find all the secrets. That’s one thing I like about Rusty Lake’s achievements: You don’t get rewarded for finishing chapters or just playing the game, you have to work for the great extras.

You haven’t played the other Cube Escape games yet, so don’t play this one or you won’t understand the context of the story and the many references.
*Some players finished it in 1.6 hours, don’t know how they do it.

Excellent! I was hoping they would have achievements. I really enjoy finding all the “extra” hidden stuff.
