Which adventure game character’s line is it anyway?
Gateway? Or maybe the book came first with that. Can’t remember.
Do you mean that I would have known it because having Joey as my avatar must mean I’m a megafan and memorized every line? Not the case - he just fits my online personality. Besides, my memory for lines and screens are terrible.
No, but I figured that you - like me - might find the randomly capitalized words familiar. Of course, that depends on if you played the game with subtitles or not.
Funnily enough, the game has both a set of English and a set of American subtitles. I don’t know how much they differ, but I do know one scene where you’re talking to the guy outside of Burke’s Bio Surgery is quite different:
English subtitles:
“How can I get out of the City?”
“Have you thought about DEFECATION?”
“Don’t you mean DEFECTION?”
“What? Isn’t that what I SAID?”
“I asked you about LEAVING the City…
...not BODILY PROCESSES.”
“You’re not making SENSE!
...and anyway you CAN’T leave the City.
There’s a RESTRICTION on travel.”
American subtitles:
“How can I get out of the City?”
“WHY? Aren’t you HAPPY here?”
“I want to get back to the GAP…”
“Are you SERIOUS?”
“Oh, yes. I’ve seen ENOUGH of this city…
...MORE than enough.”
“Listen, I don’t want to DEPRESS you…
...but you can’t CHANGE your DESTINY…
...at least, not without official SANCTION.”
(The voices use the English script, though.)

Not a bad guess, but as you say the games were based on the books, not the other way around. This game came earlier, though.

Nice one. It’s a cool title and Floyd is a bit of a legendary character!
It would be amazing to find the original package (with all the additional items), but the chances of that are slim to none.

Most of it is Hamilton Temple, the stage magician, Tad just wants to get out of there and the disembodied laughter is obviously Stauf himself. Disembodied laughter is his go-to move.
