I love “Lord of the Rings” more than the next guy (my engagement ring was the One Ring), but something about the Hobbit I just don’t like. Never was fond of the book, and seeing the trailer just didn’t thrill me like the other ones.

The dwarves just really seem to give it a kiddish feel (and I know originally the book was written for kids) that doesn’t integrate with my love for “Lord of the Rings”. I love Martin Freeman as John in “Sherlock”, and I can see him as a hobbit, I really can. But his lines in teh trailer seem forced and awkward, like when he says he’s going for an adventure, and that he likes guests as much as the next guy.

Maybe I’m just being pessimistic because I loved “Lord of the Rings” so much. I’m still going to go see it. Am I the only one who thinks this?

Yes, you are. Tongue

I love the trailers! I really can’t wait to see the movie! It’s guaranteed to be my ‘Movie of the Year’! I, too, love that dwarvish song; it sends shivers down my spine. Laughing

I’m gonna have to re-read the book soon to refresh my memory…

I recently became a Lord of the Rings fan but I have to say I don’t like the Hobbit much either. However the film seems indeed very different from the book so I think I might like it. What I do wonder however is how they’re going to squeeze three films out of a book that isn’t even as lengthy as one LotR book.

...Two parts to cover the story of The Hobbit, and a third part which will cover the appendices at the end of The Return of the King book. It’s to bridge the gap between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring.

There are some nifty background stories that take place too, especially about Sauron’s first fortress at Dol Guldur in Mirkwood and how Aragorn and Arwen first met. Smile

Well, when you put it like that, the appendix movie sounds good. I always say I’m a huge fan, and yet I don’t know all the background stories and stuff, so that will be interesting. I still can’t get through the “Simillarion”.  Meh

KHAAAAAANNNNNN!!!! or at least if you watch the Japanese version you see hints of a scene from The Wrath of Khan.

I enjoyed the first one, but this one looks like it’s going more into the action movie zone and away from almost everything that made Star Trek in the first place.

An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

Today we are cancelling the Apocalypse!!!

Guillermo Del Toro’s new movie Pacific Rim is very Japanese Godzilla vs Mecha.

That’s just based off the trailer. Naturally they’re going to put a lot of the “money shots” in the trailer, to attract the masses.
I don’t think J.J. Abrams is going to forget what made Star Trek Star Trek…

Now THAT looks interesting.
Well, actually the premise alone doesn’t, but when it’s Guillermo Del Toro directing, that changes things. He’s proven in Hellboy 2 that he can easily handle big monsters…
I’m curious to see what he does with this…

*bump*

I love the unsettling atmosphere in this trailer for “Gravity”.

But then, I expect nothing less from director Alfonso Cuarón… Cool

Here’s another trailer for “Gravity”.

I love Cuarón’s artistry with very long continuous shots.
Also: no sound in space! Thumbs Up

Looks like the Coens are back in ‘A Serious Man’ mood. Smile

I don’t see how this movie can possibly be bad. The Coens haven’t made a bad movie since… well, ever. Oscar Isaac is a very talented actor who has impressed me a few times already in recent years (he was great in Agora for instance), and the same goes for Carey Mulligan (oh hey, it’s a ‘Drive’ reunion Tongue).
And the music reminds me of that of O Brother, Where Art Thou? which was nothing but awesome, imo.

Marvels latest movie “Guardians of the Galaxy”

A harder sell than the normal heroes as they are probably not that well know outwith comic fans.

Film looks like it could be fun though.

Mom’s Night Out

It looks to be a cute comedy for the whole family, filmed right here in Birmingham, Alabama!  While we’ve had movies filmed here before (admittedly not that many), this is the first one I’ve seen in which it is possible to recognize local landmarks including the buildings that make up our downtown skyline and a great shot of the twin spires of St. Paul’s.

Warning- People won’t have as much of a sense of humor about you putting an Alka Seltzer in your mouth then staggering into a restaurant while shouting “THE VIRUS HAS MUTATED!” as you’d hope they would.

Consider this: People say “Ewwww!!!” when they hear about a guy having a hairy bum or hairy back, yet every Teddy Bear ever made has had both a hairy bum AND a hairy back and nobody complains about them; In fact, people think Teddy Bears are adorable.
