Jack Keane 2
Not impressed, it looks more like Adam’s Venture than the first Jack Keane, but I’ll reserve judgement.
Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale
Well… the music made me think of Gummi Bears.
Looks fine to me. The best thing about the first game was the humour and the puzzles. As long as we have the same writers I’ll be happy.
Not very impressive indeed, unfortunately.
Do you think JK2 will be direct control, not point&click; anymore?
I don’t want to think about the possibility that the game won’t be mouse controlled…..
I actually hope it is keyboard controlled. The first game was a nightmare in some scenes because the hotspots would move and be difficult to click on (I am thinking of the plane scene specifically).
I havn’t played the first one. Is it any good?
An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

It’s okay. Nice graphics, many cool locations to explore, and descent length. Some funny characters, too.
The rest was unmemorable or just annoying. I didn’t like the female character, and the animation for the villain made me physically ill (a bit of an uncanny valley issue).

It’s moderately funny, it’s moderately whacky and it was generally fun enough to hold my attention to the end.
While not a masterpiece by any means, it’s definitely a decent game and it’s got me interested in the sequel.
If you like the Monkey Island games, then I can certainly recommend it. Just don’t expect it to reach the same level of quality…
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
couple of new images:
Well, they sure have reminded me of this video -

I’m out of touch. Any news? It seems like a year ago when this was on the verge of release. Has it been cancelled?
I was looking into that a couple days ago, but couldn’t find anything new about it anywhere. Even Deck13’s own forums have been quiet for more than half a year.
Duckman: Can you believe it? Five hundred bucks for a parking ticket?
Cornfed Pig: You parked in a handicapped zone.
Duckman: Who cares? Nobody parks there anyway, except for the people who are supposed to park there and, hell, I can outrun them anytime.
It’s out in Germany (and has been for a while). They’ve made a patch to fix the issues players had with the controls but I haven’t heard any news about the English release, unfortunately.
Madre de Dios, es el Pollo Diablo!
While I like the graphics of this, can’t say I have much hope of the game being any good. The first was a gigantic disappointment.
Are there any Germans here who has played and liked the game? And how does it compare to the first?
I played and loved it.
But i could not finish it. I had only 6 hours to play a preview version.
I thought the first Jack Keane was rather enjoyable. Slightly Monkey Island-y humor, decent voice acting and puzzles. From the reviews I’ve seen, Jack Keane 2 wasn’t as well received in Germany as the original. The screens are looking much better though.
