In MI2, Guybrush didn't have so much of a beard, rather more like stubble that he was trying to grow into a beard. Also, he was more of a dirty blonde, rather than brown haired.

As for the change? Well being transmorphed into a little kid & back into an adult might screw some things up.

And stylistically I think Guybrush looks better as a blonde.

I just realized something funny...Both times when Guybrush reached Big Whoop, he ended up as a child, in one way or another. Coincidence? Or did the team of CMI have a much deeper logic in mind, than what we all thought up till now?

Think about it.

Maybe that's the answer. He didn't. The Guybrush in MI£ (and on) is an evil doppelganger/alternate dimension copy/overzealous impersonator/lunatic fan (delete according to preference) and not the real Guybrush at all. Maybe we can have a future adventure in which Alternibrush rescues Original Brush from LeChuck's spell.

So much speculation about my beard.

Guys guys guys, I grew the beard unintentionally. You see, I spent years at sea searching for the treasure of Big Whoop, and somewhere along the line, that damned ship monkey nicked my Stubble-O shaving cream, and I was never the same. Stranded on Scabb with nothing but a bald monkey and a manly beard, I...well, you know the rest.

Unfortunately, in LeChuck's® Carnival o' the Damned™, just when I was getting used to the thing, a violent corndog and a couple of stuffed animals ripped it clean off my face.

I thought everybody knew that! MI1 and 2 showed how LeChuc is a master of disguise. There is no explanation of the gap between MI2 and MI3 because THERE IS NO GAP. MI3 and MI4 clearly takes place in the leChucverse (qv Marvel comic's Franklinverse).

My father had blond hear like mine when he was my age, but now has dark brown hair. No, he doesn't dye it.

That's a fairly common occurance, Fop. I've never heard of it going the other way around though. ;

Well, with sailors it can happen. Sun and Sea can bleach blonde hair (and also brown hair, and hair of other colours) a lot. Especially sun. And I'd say there's pretty much sun and sea in the carribean.

I'm assuming that since he is a whipped panzy boy, Elaine made him shave and shower.
No woman wants to sleep with a bearded smeally pirate, at least none that i know of.

Yeah, I'd have to think it was sun exposure that bleached his hair out in Secret of Monkey Island. In MI2 it looks like he's been spending some more time indoors with his *growl*, lady friend.

One of the things I liked best about Guybrush's look in MI2 was that he had the bad boy pirate look down....yet he was still kind of a dork underneath it all. Like when he jumps back into the boat during the diving sessions and gives you that ear to ear grin, or when he holds up the bone and his pants drop down at the beginning of the game.

He may be dressed up cool, but he's still a bit of a goof despite it all.

I guess I don't understand...in the screenshots you posted his hair still looks the same!
I never noticed a difference.

It's less obvious in the faraway shots, where he could have either light brown or dark blond hair.
In the two closeup shots from the first game, his hair is clearly blond.

Since they didn't use that kind of closeup for the second game, you can't compare directly. But it looks to me like light brown highlights with dark brown shading - overall brown. Do you see anything blond about this guy?

i dont really know if this had anything to do with it but at the end of MI2 guybrush turned into a kid, then grew back into his MI1 state in MI3, where he was blonde, maybe he aged into a brown haired man, i mean i for one was blonde once and aged into a brunette.
