I decided to change it up a bit, but still keep it within the same genre, now with a soot sprite declaring its independence..

I know! They're in My Neighbour Totoro too, but they have more of a personality in Spirited Away.
I adore Miyazaki's films, I can see Howl's moving Castle, Spirited Away, The Cat Returns (not Miazaki, but his studio) and Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind again and again. I also love Princess Mononoke, but that is a bit more of a "need to be in a special mood" kinda film.

But then, I'm am a huge animation geek, so I usually watch animation.. ^^

Edit: I love how adventuregamers seem to be driving a lot of traffic to my blogs. I wish I had the energy to update them

I second Murray and Oscar. I loved the whole "cast" of DoTT and Max is of course brilliant.

For more "human" characters I guess I really like the boringly popular Gabriel Knight, Tex Murphy and April Ryan. I agree on Von Glower's charisma, though I am not a man myself .

My all time favorite AG character is David McNamara from "Overclocked" he is so real and so well crafted he really gets under your skin. I so felt for this poor poor guy. One of the best crafted characters in AG history I think.

I also really really love the April Ryan from Dreamfall you can so totally relate to her feelings and emotions and she's so much more a real person than unrealistically naive and carefree April from TLJ was. (my opinion off course)

John and River from To the Moon. A truly romantic, deeply tragic, wonderful couple.

1. Tex Murphy still is my ultimate mancrush - I love this character to bits.

2. Manny Calavera was an incredible character as well (awesome voice acting too) along with Glottis, captain Velasco, Eva, Salvador, Lupe (the coat-check girl at the casino with the lovable voice). Manny and Glottis stand out but I pretty much loved the entire GF cast, to be honest.

3. Lewton (Discworld: Noir): a projection of the books' Sam Vimes in a way but cool in his own right.

4. Ben (Full Throttle): bad-assery done right.

5. Gabriel Knight, but only in Sins of the Fathers. Something about his terrible interpretation (mainly to do with acting) in GK2 and the strange Tim Curry performance in 3 put me off, but in the first game Gabriel was a really cool, devil-may-care dude, heavily flawed yet very relatable.

6. Honorable mentions go to Murray (in all Monkey Islands except Escape), Wonkers the Watilla (Dreamfall), the DOTT trio (especially Hoagie), Flux Wildly (Toonstruck), Sam (Sam & Max) and probably a bunch of others that I can't recall right now.

As you might have guessed by my log in, I'm very partial to Tex Murphy. I've always felt that he was the most heartfelt, and fleshed out character I've ever had the joy to play with. The humor, the depth of story, and situations he gets himself into....and out of!!!

Anyway, hands down my favorite of all time.
Can't wait for the Kickstarter!

Ben would come next. A no nonsense badass. Yanking the bartender by his nose ring onto the bar was one of the best scenes with a witty one liner ever.

3 great characters in one shot!

These I absolutely love:
  • Joe King (Flight Of The Amazon Queen) - Really wide selection of colourful and splendid jokes and positive humour. One of the best characters ever done.
  • Martin Holan (Ni.Bi.Ru) - Warm and emotional guy, whose boots are exceptionally easy to step into.
  • George Stobbart (Broken Sword series) - Thoughtful, humorous and still easy to take seriously. Simply a classic adventure character.
  • Darren Michaels (Black Mirror 2,3) - See Martin holan.
  • Joey Malone (Blackwells) - Really cool guy who is nasty in a positive way. And it is something remarkable, and difficult to achieve.
  • Rincewind (Discwolds) - And pretty much all characters in those games! - One word: "To-laugh-to-die-humour"
  • Mata Hari (Mata Hari) - Interesting historical character and exceptionally well rounded in the game.
  • Shopkeeper (from Monkey Island 1) - This is a rare example of an annoying character that succeeds to be positively annoying.
  • John Russell (Undercover: Operation Wintersun) - Peaceful and calm character and refreshing difference from the norm.
  • Flux (Toonstruck) - His tongue-in-cheeck-humour is simply something undying.
  • Sam & Max (Sam & Max - Hit The Road) - Exactly same notes as for Flux.

Nobody asked, but I would like to list also the characters I furiously hated:
  • Joshua (Runaway-series) - and this is the crystal clear winner. In every possible way, he is the most annoying yap ever digitally produced!!!
  • Tim (Alter Ego) - Emotionless and simply every way un-interesting and wooden character.
  • Nicole Bonnet (Art Of Murder-series) - This idiot doesn't touch anything until her life depends on it.
  • Adam Reichl (Next Life) - how can anyone be this DUMB?
  • Sunny Blonde (So Blonde) - Do I really need to explain?
  • Liz and Dan (The Next BIG Thing) - Really annoying nagging towards each other

The Single Greatest Characters Ever Conceived:

Cedric the Owl (King's Quest V)
The Drunk Guy who repeatedly says "Want Some Rye? 'Course you do" (Return to Zork)
Larry Lovage (The REAL Leisure Suit Larry, the one from Magna Cum Laude)
Ozzie Mandrill (Monkey Island 4)

Try and top that list, people!

I liked Ozzie. He was a welcome break from LeChuck and was intentionally irritating.

Are you suggesting Cedric wasn't intentionally irritating?

It's King's Quest. They wouldn't do that.
