Really... I wasn't even aware they were making a remastered version of the sequel... I'll have to look more into this, goes to show how much attention I pay
Hopefully it's better than the first, with no cuts and without useless additions that don't fit in with the rest of the game? |

They re-released this game on several formats but I'd love to see them release it on the DS like they did BS1 so my wife will play it. She has played BS1 about 20 times as she is falling asleep and loves it. It's the only way she can take an interest in games that are special to me.

That explains why I hadn't heard of it... same with Beneath a Steel Sky, I love that game but didn't know there was a remake... because I've never taken any interest in or paid any attention to either the iPhone or the iPad. |

Franky, I don't know what to say about this news. On the one hand, I should be glad, because "Broken Sword 2" is technically the first adventure game I've played. But the remastered version of the "Broken Sword" IMO didn't brought anything better over the original version. In fact, it had brought some annoyances over it. Still, I might check it out, when I read the official review.

These games need 3d remastering

NOOOOOOOOO !
I did like the third game's look in 3d, but for the first two, it would just ruin their charm if they were remade in 3d! I have played MI special editions, and it didn't have the same atmosphere. (I would've prefered a better high quality 2d for the remake). |

Second that! 3D But I didn't like the 3D version of Simon 3 at all (so ugly, and I kept running). Can't believe someone seriously prefers 3D games to 2D games (with regard to the graphics/backgrounds). And it's sad to see that often the 3D artwork is much better than the finished product.

second second that!! but actually i wouldn't mind a 2.5D approach with 3D models......judging from Secret Files and Runaway they are really good.and it might be interesting.just picture it....BS2 with the graphic style of Secret Files.i think it could work.what do you think?

Oh thank god this is coming out! I bought the original version on steam a while back hoping that it'd play on current systems unlike my original disks but it was glitchy to the point of being unplayable.
I hope this remastered version will run properly! |

@mart
"But I didn't like the 3D version of Simon 3 at all" Simon 3d was a big shock, I would have loved to see a proper 2d sequel to the The Lion, the Wizard and the Wardrobe. Now that should be a good remake! @ jhetfield21 Hmm... a compromise between the 2 styles... A very tiny possibility that I might like that. It's so tiny that's if it was a scale it would be a nano-possibility ! I do like Secret files but sorry, still no! . |

it's not exactly a compromise or at least it wasn't my point.for me even with the 3D models 2.5D is on the same category as 2D whereas 3D is on another category.

Ahhh Sacrilege... Broken Sword 1 and 2 in 3D. no sorry
Kate me is right... it would loose the charm and those beautiful hand painted/Drawn backgrounds. Maybe 3D character on pre-rendered 2D art with 3D element integrated into the background... but it would have to be detailed enough to not loose the beauty of the originals. The games would end up looking like Monkey island 4 or the Tales of Monkey island, yeah they have an awesome story, voices, humour and so on but I have to say they have gone backward with the graphics.... the environments look so empty and void of any life. Theses games should remain the same. |

Old-school BS fans, I'm totally with you. 3D is a big no-no for BS games, and IMO one of the reasons why the series lost a big portion of its charm after BS2.
As for the remastered versions, I agree with the concept. There are some "legendary" games, both in the genre and outside, that can greatly benefit from a facelift. But in most cases, this should be just that: a mere facelift. Nothing drastical, just ironing out the wrinkles, not changing the entire concept or the game mechanics. But, like it or not, eye-candiness is pretty important factor today. By thinking about that, I'm immediately thinking about the SE versions of the first two MI games. Since I didn't played those games in their heydey, I doubt I could force myself to play the game with such dated graphic these days, even though I admit this is rather shallow way of thinking. On the other hand, with remastered BS games, I was expecting to see their recognizable graphic that I like so much, but a bit polished out.

If broken sword was to go a better 3d route, they'd stick to a puzzle oriented version of Uncharted. lol I can only wish.

I wonder if they're going to be doing a Wii port at any point. I actually enjoyed playing BS1 on the Wii. Helped me get back into playing AGs, actually. Somehow, getting away from the computer and using the wiimote to play helped me get around my anxiety issues, which was nice.
