Big Fish Games have a President's Day sale until the 20th of February - all games for $4.99. I was thinking of grabbing Benoit Sokal's Paradise...

Metal Dead is 80% off today for only $1.00 on Indievania. If you were on the fence it doesn't get much cheaper than this. http://www.indievania.com/games/metal-dead

Sorry, either I made a mistake or something changed quite a bit since last night when I tried this out. These are (now?) just demos.

OnLive has made 16 Independent Games Festival nominees and honorable mentions available to play for free on their service until March 11. Currently the service is UK and US only. Creating an account is free.

Among those games there are a few adventure games.
  • Dear Esther
  • Be Good (Don't know much about this one, but I believe it's an AG)
  • Lume
  • To the Moon.

The press release with full list of games is here.

Unfortunately, those seem to be only demos.

From a fansite:

Running from today through March 11, gamers in the US and UK can play 16 different current IGF nominees and honorable mentions for free though the OnLive video game service. [...] Two of these games will be available for full purchase (Atom Zombie Smasher and SpaceChem). The others are currently only available in demo mode.

I was stoked on this until I also figured this out.The worst is that the demos are only 30 minutes whereas you can download a 1 hour demo of To the Moon directly from Freebird Games and don't have to worry about installing any stupid onlive service or worry about what country you're from. Serious let down.

Weird. When I loaded up two different games yesterday neither displayed the time limit notification at the beginning. Today they do. I also don't remember the mention of the 30-minutes in the press release. I definitely read the part where it now appears because that's where I got the list of games. That seems a little odd, although it's possible I missed both of those things last night.

Today's Deal on Steam is Jurassic Park at 66% off ($10.19)

That's, what, the third adventure game daily deal in the last week? I'm okay with this.

It's in their press release as a game that you can play. Something is really off about the way this whole thing has gone.

I just read somewhere comments by someone who had just finished his 30 minutes of playing Botanicula. I want to play it too!! What on earth is going on, or am I being stupid again? Anybody else able to access the Botanicula demo?

EDIT: I read at the Amanita forums that Botanicula has indeed been removed from the list. No explanation. Wonderful. I even registered at Onlive just to play the demo. Ggggggrrrrrr....

The HOG "Shiver: Vanishing Hitchhiker" is $2.29 at Big Fish Games today with the coupon code "LEAP". I know nothing about this game, but it has gotten very good user reviews on the site.

Also, I wanted to wait for the inevitable 75% off Jurassic Park on Steam, but I think I've waited long enough: I'm going to go for it.
