FMV interactive Movie Adventures
Hi
I've suddenly felt the urge to play some of these kinds of games after watching some videos to the game 'Night Trap', that I remember playing on the Mega CD many many years ago, and jumping into Phantasmagoria. I just wanted to know what other games of this kind are worth checking out. I don't mind whether they have many puzzles or not, The Dark Eye wasn't exactly the most taxing game, but it was enjoyable in many ways. Anyone? |

There's the Tex Murphy series if you don't mind older games.

Tex Murphy, Gabriel Knight 2, The Dark Side of the Moon, and X-Files: The Game are all solid FMV adventures.

As mentioned before, both the Tex Murphy series and GK2 are worth trying. I'll also throw in the underrated (and difficult) Black Dahlia and Spycraft: The Great Game.

Definately The X-Files Game. Even if you're not familiar with the TV series you play the game from an outsiders perspective.

I also recommend Tex Murphy and Zork: Nemesis and Grand Inquisitor.
Toonstruck is kind of an Interactive cartoon with some FMV. |

This might be a bit of a stretch, but The Neverhood could qualify as FMV.

Lots and lots of good games here. If I should add anything to this it would be Ripper from Take2. Old, but still very good.

I've played Toonstruck, but that's only 5% or less FMV. After all, you mostly only have Christopher Lloyd in FMV, while everything else is animated cartoon graphics.
I've also played Gabriel Knight 2, and found that to be quite good because of atmosphere and story. I have Under a Killing Moon lying about in my collection, but I never got it working on my PC. Appearently it's one of the first, and also considered one of the best, so I guess I should try it out sometime. |

I can also recommend the Gabriel Knight novels. They're just like playing the games, but with a little bonus.
Also, I thought the Journeyman Project-games could be worth checking out. Quite nice I must say.

the 2 santa fe mysteries are FMV- not the greatest games, but OK
Conspiracies was a more recent FMV The upcoming Yoomurjak's Ring, Darkstar and Conspiracies 2 are all going to be FMV. I do miss this genre. |

How many of these will work with XP?
Toonstruck and the Zorks wont work, from what I've heard (I actually own Toonstruck but is still in the bubblewrap as apparently no one has got it working on XP). Black Dahlia seems like a good look. I ordered In Memorium but cancelled the order after reading many of the sites have been altered. Same with Spycraft. And the Tex games. I'll try them. Which is the best Tex? Quote:

In my opinion, Under A Killing Moon and The Pandora Directive are the best Tex Murphy games.
