No, I am not even going to vote on this one. The question is evil. It's like asking a child if they prefer their mother or father. It screws with their head in the wrong ways.

Although I like the idea of the poll, and I voted, I would hardly say GK is Sierra's prime series.

lol! I'm just messing with you.

Going by sales and the fact it was Sierra's flagship series, it would have to be King's Quest (King Graham I guess).

Roger Wilco or Larry Laffer (as you noted) vs Guybrush both seem like a good poll questions though.

Cheers

People who haven't played at least half of the games in each series shouldn't be able to vote :p
(Edit: I haven't played MI3, so that's my loophole )

For me, it's GK over MI head and shoulders. The GK games had stories which I was thinking about when I wasn't playing the game, and which compelled me to keep coming back to finish them. MI, on the other hand, gave me more of a "meh, I'll finish this when I have some hours to kill" type of vibe. I just honestly couldn't care less about the MI series. In fact, I'd say that MI isn't close to being the pinnacle of Lucasarts' adventure games (see: Fate of Atlantis, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, Sam & Max).

I remember this back in the days too, some preferred Sierra and others preferred LucasArts - and it was about 50/50. That said, I think LucasArts has had a bigger influence on the evolution of the genre than Sierra.

I played MI 1 and tried MI2 but it was too tedious for me to get through. Just not my type of games. GK, on the other hand was a joy, well at least 2 and 3 were. The only thing I liked about GK1 was the story.

Monkey Island. Easy. I liked Gabriel Knight 1, but GK2 killed it for me and I never even tried GK3.

Why did GK2 kill the GK series for you?

My arguement is the thread should be 'Which Do You Prefer' or 'Which Is Your Favourite' rather than 'better', which is what I think this implies..

MI sucks. They're really all the same to me. GK series are one of the best... ever!

I dont know, I got used to the voice actors in GK1 and the FMV actors in GK2 were just too different. To me Gabe and Grace seemed like totally different characters. I played through the first chapter and couldn't get into it. I might try again sometime - but this time I wont do it right after I finish the first one.

You better give GK 3 a try first, it's better than GK 2 imo and it's more reminiscent of the first game.

Seconded. Also, Tim Curry is back as Gabriel in GK3. And Charity James as Grace is at least as good as Leah Remini in the first game.

I'll give GK3 a shot one of these days then, as long as Tim Curry's back, it's gotta be better than GK2.

And as a bonus Mosely also makes a return in GK 3.
