They pimped up the connected online system (Wiiverse) which seems to be an always online system that allows ingame text chat, Video Phone like skyping, browser internet (with entertainment curtain to hide your surfing from the rest of the family in the room ). When you book up the system the TV shows a large white space with game icons and lots of Mii’s milling around with text bubbles appearing over it while the pad shows the main menu and controls.

This along with the touch screen capabilities would be an ideal platform for adventure games and games that are just more challenging in general. I hope that opportunity isn’t wasted.

As for the games that have been showcased so far… eh… the only titles that have interested me so far are the new Hitman with its variety of play styles and No Ni Kuni, which just looks like a breathe of fresh air for JRPGs in general.

Let’s see how Microsoft and Sony go tomorrow!

EDIT: You should also check this out! It’s the trailer for a new puzzle platformer for the PS3, Papo & Yo!

Good find can’t wait , btw both his next two games are Sony exclusive.

As far as WiiU, they have to show good software, expecting shovelwares from this system
too that will be happily accepted by kids and fans.

EDIT/UPDATE = Looks like cage has hired well-known actor and actress to provide voice work on its next project.

Update 2
Beyond screens
Two people in the game (Ellen Page and someone), if one dies the other one will too

I’m enjoying this year’s Microsoft press conference than last!

Btw…got a press conference from Paradox Interactive awhile ago.  Wondering if other PC developers will incorporate this to their games…

TwitchTV, the world’s leading video game broadcasting network, today announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) that Paradox Interactive will be the first publisher to enable players to broadcast live gameplay directly from their games to the TwitchTV community. The Showdown Effect is their inaugural title featuring this functionality in the form of a direct link from the game’s dashboard to TwitchTV’s broadcasting platform. Given the proliferation of marquee brands streaming content on TwitchTV, the trend toward making the process more accessible for their fans was a logical next step.

Halo4 was only thing that made me wow, really well done, true sequel to Halo3, finally
new enemies.
RE6 feels average, animations not up there.
Tombraider too scripted, though visuals were really good, got news that only 10hrs
is a letdown.
Spintercell has become a joke.
BLOPS2 i will play for FutureTech.

The Microsoft conference showed some decent stuff, but nothing that blew my socks off.

Started off with Halo 4 which looked great and had the Forerunners as the enemies. Had a visor mode that everyone seems to be doing since Batman.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist - Looked superb, but veery sunny. Set in Iraq it seems to have ditched the stealth mechanics and had some Max Payne style slow down. Target 3 or 4 guys then enter slow mo and take them out. Had some decent voice commands for kinect to call in air strikes or distract guards. Again had a Batman style Radar.

EA Sports showed Madden and Fifa 13 with voice commands for plays , tactics, substitutions etc

Showed a CGI trailer for the New Gears of War game

Trailer for Forza Horizon which seems to be a Arcady Need for Speed game in the Forza world.

The had the entertainment stuff with NA, NHL coming to the xBox.

Nike + for Kinect is touted as the newest fitness app that gives you workouts and synch to you phone tablet etc.

The most intersting part seemed to be the introduction of a new app called Xbox Smart Glassthat seems to allow the xbox to talk to your phone or tablet device (including Apples) to shift viewing of entertainment from the TV to your tablet and backwards. ALso suggest your tablet would act as a 2nd screen for entertainment to give you extra information on what you are watching or as a 2nd screen in gaming. Giving your inventory or status screen on the iPad while you play. Nintendo must be peeved as this seems replicate the Wii U to a certain extent. Microsoft are touting it as turning any TV into a SMART TV.

They then showed Tomb Raider playable. Looked Fantastic if a bit Uncharted.

Resident Evil 6 looked great playable, but seems to take the survival horror out of the game.

Funniest bit was the showing of South Park: Stick of Truth and had Trey and Parker on the stage. Game looked like it could be fun

Dance Central 3 announced with a live performance from Usher.

Finished up with a playable demo of Call of Duty Black Ops 2. Looked fine for what it is.

Overall there was little surprise and apart from the new App it never even hinted at the next gen.

What a boring conference!

No surprise announcements, no really new games.

Tomb Raider gameplay made sad, we already have Uncharted, no need for another full-on scripted action-adventure killing mercenaries… Probably has scripted platforming also and boring easy puzzles…

Resident Evil 6 looks like a worthy sequel to Resident Evil 5 (a bad game)

Call ops 2 demo was way too long

South Park and the little matt stone trey parker talk was the only funny thing at the conference (the little jab at the xbox glass thingie was great)

Kinect stuff was expected (angry birds 3d)
Some random not very exciting new games with 2013 release

lots on non-game stuff including game of thrones and prometheus spoilers… Usher!?!?!

Halo 4 looked great
Splinter Cell also looked good, although not very stealthy

Bring on the next conference Smile

EA’s Conference

Dead Space 3

Damn the seem to be fecking up my Dead Space. Seems they have thrown out the scary as shit single player game in favour of a 2 character game with drop in /Drop out Co-op. They are turning it into blooming Gears of War.

Lost Planet type snowy planet and universal ammo they showcased an attack by a giant drill.

It may be fine but it’s not Dead Space.

Madden 13

Uses Infinity Engine for better tackle animations etc and an RPG stlye xp system for upgrading your player. Otherwise it was a sports game. Yawn

Sim City

The new PC game of Sim City looked pretty cool. Great graphics and a new multiplayer structure where you can link your cities and let other in or visit others cities. Even if you don’t your city will still affect others around you. Interesting trailer makes it look fun.

Battlefield 3 Premium

Downloads are the way of the future and they showed off this Elite style system for Battlefield. Access to 5 new expansion packs for $49.

Star Wars Old Republic

This didn’t add a lot of new stuff. New companions, New planet etc and it announced it is free to play up to level 15 in July. Seems a bit desperate to bump their membership

Medal of Honor Warfighter

Looks fantastic if a bit generic shootery. Demo was in Somalia against pirates and featured a beach assult a-la Saving Private Ryan again. Seemed there was an interesting Breach mechanic where you actually picked the method from a context menu at the door. Also showed you controlling a neat little robot with a gun and grenade launcher going through a ruined building.

The Multiplayer sees you picking a global unit like the SAS or Seal team etc and was set to a Linkin Park song.

Out in Oct 23rd

EA Sports

Showed waay to much of Fifa to an American audience as they went on about the Man City v QPR game and showed a gameplay video. THe new football club mechanic means you carry over levels and experience from Fifa 12 into 13 and get a bonus as well.

Biggest surprise of the night was the fact the EA now has the UFC MMA licence. THQ must have given it up after their money troubles recently. Interesting given the amount of scandal that the UFC and EA got into a couple o fyears ago with banning fighters who signed up to the EA MMA game etc.

Need for Speed Most Wanted

Criterion’s new Need for Speed game sees them in an open world racing game. A new updated autolog system allows you to earn point and race to become the most wanted amongst you friends.

The gamplay demo look cool and should be a lot of fun. Out Oct 30th

Crysis 3

The year of the bow continues as the demoed the new Crysis game where you have a bow as you wander a Jungle like New York taking out soldiers and a helicopter with explosive arrows as well as normal guns. Blew up a dam.

Looked fine, but nothing new. Out in Feb 13.

Overall the presentation was faily standard with little surprises.

EA conference

The best trailer - Sim City:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=SObs9KnK0Ng

The rest was mostly the expected shooters.

Also Dead Space 3 Frown did the fans of the first 2 games asked for an epic co-op shooter instead of the survival horror?

Microsoft lifted their game this time. There’s actually some things I’m interested in - namely, South Park and Tomb Raider.

E.A. was blah. Sim City and Need for Speed were the only things that looked good for me but not enough for me to purchase them.

There was an Epic Mickey 2 preview on the GameTrailers’s stream and that looks like it’s straight out of the last generation. But, I’m a sucker for platformers so I’ll probably pick it up.

Sony and Nintendo will smoke these suckers, Grin

Ubisoft

Just Dance 4 with Flo-Rida looked Meh.

Far Cry 3 looked cool. Not sure about the weird dream sequence, but the graphics looked stunning, it had a tiger in it and carried on this years trope. Every game must come with a Bow and Arrow.

Splinter Cell had a new trailer which looked good.

Avengers Battle for Earth looked dreadful

Rayman Legends looked pretty but the Wii U control looked confusing as hell.

Ubisoft was pushing the Wii U stuff hard and rejigged Killer Klowns from outerspace into ZombiU which ilicited the “omg not another zombie game” comment followed by Doesn’t this sound like a school for zombies”

Assassins Creed III looked fantastic jumping through the trees fiting wolves, the snow tech looked great and you get to stab alot of British people (Hey hold on a sec…)

Shootmania was an embarassment. The game looked ok if you ar einto Unreal Tournament, but the presentation was dreadful.

Finally they showed an new IP with significant graphical improvements suggesting that it is a next generation game (even though no body has announced a new console)

Watch Dogs seems to be a open world game wher you control the city. They showed you walking around and shutting off mobile communications. Highlighting characters gave a pop up history of them etc. You then went out side and staged a car accident by changing the lights bfore getting into a shootout. The premise being that everyone is connected by their digital fingerprint and none of it is safe.

Easily the most exciting thing of E3 so far.
