Careful with Antichamber (or not)

An adventures fan that may come across ratings for this game will find that it gets almost excellent reviews almost everywhere and it’s a ‘puzzle’ game.

However, be very careful, it’s extremely thin in story and very thick in puzzles. It’s like a ‘portal’ that is even void of most of the illusion that it had a big story.

So, stay far away if you’re into deep stories and puzzles being the cover. Puzzles IS the game in this.

Of course, if you’re into puzzles a lot, you’ll find it good.

I’m into puzzles a lot, and I didn’t find it very good. I don’t know if I could tell you why, I just didn’t think there was much substance to it. Loved Portal though.

I’ve seen a few gameplay vids of Antichamber, and while it looks fun in a mindbending way, I also have the feeling that it’s the sort of game that’ll get tedious after a while.
The premise seems interesting, but it kinda feels gimmicky. Not that that’s a bad thing, but I’m not sure if this game will be absolutely worth it (for me, at least).
But it does look intriguing in the simplicity of its presentation…

What a big mistake to not include a clear story from the start, even if it’s simple.

Look at portal: It’s a ridiculously simplistic story, but it’s thrown at you immediately: “you are trapped, with some conspiracy after you, you’re afraid and want to get out” or whatever, and you’re into it.

And it doesn’t even become much more complex, you just find a simple villain, but it’s the whole ‘having a reason’ that makes even harder puzzles more worth it.
