Faces of L.A. Noire
Probably no one cares about this anymore, more than a year after the original release of L.A. Noire, but I’ve made THIS comparison between 69 actors and characters from the game, and would like to share it with you. Why exactly 69? Because it fits well with the music I’ve chosen. Hope You’ll like it. :)
Of course there are similar videos floating on Youtube, but most of them focus only on main characters or the most popular actors.
I always found that the actresses in L.A. Noire looked remarkably similar. That vid kinda proved that they look a tad *less* like their real-life counterparts than the actors did.
Maybe it’s the generic ‘40s hairstyles, I don’t know.

I was thinking the exact same thin as TimovieMan. I recognised some of the actresses while playing but most of them looked very similar to each other and watching that compilation reinforced my opinion that the males were captured a bit better.

Not that it’s even remotely a surprise or anything, but a direct comparison like that really highlights how games still look like complete ass compared to the real world. Boy do we have a long way to go…
not so fast…have you seen Beyond:Two Souls?yes you can discern it’s a game but i’ll be damned if there is anything else out there capturing likeness that good.and it’s very good.

Noire uses a “revolutionary” new technology that not only captures subtle facial expressions (motion capture), but builds and textures the subject’s face into a 3D model. I think it looks rather good, but it may not yet be up to par with “handmade” models, such as with Crysis 2. The benefit of such technology is to faithfully translate an actor’s performance, while the aesthetics of it can certainly be improved.
