2015 Aggie Awards - Readers’ Choice poll

Step aside, Donald Trump. Adventure Gamers is where the real voting matters, as it’s time once again for the annual Aggie Awards reader poll!

You’ve read our list of 2015 finalists, but now it’s your turn. By casting your ballot, you could just be the difference between your chosen game winning or not. I know you hear that EVERY time there’s an election, but in this case, it’s literally true: some down-to-the-wire finishes in years’ past have been decided by a single vote! This year, maybe that’s yours.

For those who skimmed the nominee article (and are likely doing so and missing this again), we’ll remind everyone that no unfinished episodic series begun before or during the calendar year 2015 is eligible for the Aggies, except for the few sold as individual games. (Those really shouldn’t be eligible either, but too late to stop mid-stream.) And here’s the biggie: You know those signs that say “No shirt, no shoes, no service?” Well, this being a site dedicated to adventure games, our rule is “No puzzles, no story, no Aggies.” So no Telltale, no pure exploration games. And if you think that’s being too restrictive, that still leaves 73 – count ‘em, 73!! – games left to compete.

As always, only one vote per category is allowed. To make your choice, simply select the appropriate game from the drop-down list available for each award. If you wish to pass on certain categories, simply pick the "No answer" selection from the menu. There are two write-in votes for Best Character and Best Concept; if submitting an entry for these, please write the name of the character and/or brief description of the concept you’re nominating and the game in which each appears.

No ballot-stuffing permitted, as one submission per person is how voting works best. This is all just for fun, but spoiling votes just ruins the fun for everyone.

Yeah yeah, you’re thinking, we say the same thing every year. But here is where we add the cautionary tale of 2014. As much as we love Tex Murphy, the fact that Tesla Effect nearly swept the entire year’s reader Aggies highlights the danger of turning the poll into a popularity contest. So to be clear: by all means, vote for any game you feel is genuinely worthy! But do use some discretion if considering the same game for every category. You shouldn’t vote for what you haven’t played, but what you have played doesn’t necessarily deserve every award. Sometimes “no answer” is the best answer.

And with that, we’ve said our piece, and the polling can commence! Voting will end on Monday, February 22nd, and winners will be unveiled in our final Aggie Awards presentation over the course of three days, beginning February 24th. See you then.
