Our Verdict:
The Works of Mercy is an initially promising thriller about the morality of our choices that promptly dies thrashing and gurgling. Post-mortem reveals the cause of death to be flimsy writing and bare-bones gameplay.
The Good:
- Interesting premise that promises a mature, psychological journey
- graphics can look fairly realistic at times.
The Bad:
- Story delivery fumbles its controversial themes
- very little actual gameplay
- much more linear than its apparent player choice lets on
- voice acting teeters between rough and grating
- awkward translation and bugs.
