For those who won’t be deterred by the endless deaths and time-looped backtracking in Outer Wilds, its intriguing mystery and non-linear exploration of an entire solar system will be a novel and deeply engaging experience.
The Good:
- Large variety of locations with lots to explore
- dynamically changing worlds literally reveal their secrets as time goes on
- compelling self-directed mystery to unravel
- pleasing visual aesthetic.
The Bad:
- Although essential to progress, continually dying can become frustrating
- die-rewind-relaunch-return loop takes too long
- cumbersome keyboard controls and no save ability.
