Our Verdict:

Like a working vacation without the sunburn, Ransom of the Seven Ships is a solid entry in the series thanks to a well-developed story with a wide variety of puzzles, although a few too many rely heavily on repetition and hand-eye coordination.

The Good:

  • Fun premise based around a treasure hunt on a tropical island
  • nice variety of activities from sailing to diving to caving
  • ability to play as George for the first time
  • solid sound work
  • lengthy game time.

The Bad:

  • Still no 360-degree panning
  • quite a few repetitive, make-work puzzles
  • full of annoying animals that have to be bribed, beaten at their own game, or studiously avoided.
