Default Original vs. Adaptation

Frogwares is now working on their fourth adventure game; all four have been adaptations of either the Sherlock character or a Jules Verne story. What is the appeal of creating an adventure based on a pre-existing story/characters? Do you find yourself facing added pressure from fans of Sherlock and Verne?

I replied partly to the question in another topic of Ragnar, but about the question of the fans, we did collaborate with the SSHF, www.sshf.com which the french Sherlock Holmes society, they tested the game, love it very much, and finally we even have their logo on the box of the game. the Sherlock Holmes community is far more organized than the Jules Verne community, we did discuss also with some web sites, are I'm waiting now to have a good demo to present it to them.
