Wallace & Gromit - Curse of the Wererabbit

I don't quite know what it says about our present culture, but I wonder if the writers of cultural history will wonder why so many films made for Western audiences decided to dispense with actual, real actors and went instead for puppets on strings, computer-generated action heroes and quirky northern characters made out of clay? Well, one superlative example of the latter is the Wallis and Gromit series, which has already entranced people of all ages around the world.

The latest foray for the duo is Curse of the Were-Rabbit, a suitably crazy story about a giant bunny munching its destructive path through a fictional part of what, I assume, is Yorkshire or somewhere oop north, judging by the accents of the characters. The gags are excellent, the scenes pretty funny and I laughed quite a bit in the cinema along with the entire crowd.

The film was much better than Chicken Run. The makers did an amazing job at squeeze out the humor of the characters, one would have to be seriously challenged in the humour department not to find the plot funny. And how can you not admire a pest-control company called Anti-Pesto? Genius.

I give this film a rating of 4.5/5. Its so quirky, and packed with laughs. There are some good use of scary elements but it always ends up in laughs, the plot has some great twists too. This is by far the best of what we've seen of our dynamic duo Wallis & Gromit.

Many jokes in the actual 'world', meaning signs in the movie that are funny etc. Truly a great film. Glad you liked it too.

I went to see it with a good friend of mine recently (we both enjoy light-hearted movies) but we both walked out disappointed. I understood all the gags, but very few actually made me laugh. In my opinion the movie was quite weak and only managed to get a few forced chukles out of me.

No, because I'm usually quite fond of British humour, I've even got the dvd's of Father Ted, Fawlty Towers, 'Allo 'Allo and, ehm, The League of Gentlemen.

There are always one or two who say that a movie like this didn't make them laugh, and I always wonder why. This was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. It has a sense of fun that I find lacking in most American programs, and it starts with the very fact that everyone is made of clay.

If we're making a list of great British comedies, don't forget Red Dwarf, Mr. Bean, The Young Ones and Bottom. I don't enjoy every Monty Python sketch, but when they're good, they're really really good. Father Ted and The Black Adder, already mentioned, are two of my favourites. As for non-comedies, I'm a longtime fan of Doctor Who and Blakes 7. (Boy, they slaughtered those guys in the last episode) I can see inspiration from Blakes 7 in Aeon Flux and Firefly.

In a world that has more bad movies and television shows than good, ideas as good as Wallace and Gromit keep the whole industry afloat.

anyone notice how british comedy's audiences have much more emotions: for example in ONE episode of Father Ted there was laughing, applause, and an 'Aww!' while in, say, Friends, there are laughs and 'OooooOOoooOOooOOoooOooooOoooOooooOooooOoooOOOOOoo oOOOoooOooOOOoooOOooOOOOO OOOooooOooOoOoOoOooOOOOoOoohOooHhooh'
