I have a computer HP 733 pentium 3. I am still running windows 98se on it, but I am having trouble getting older games to run on it. One game in particular is Dark Side of the Moon.
Many of the fixes listed here won't work on a Windows 98 computer. Any help for me?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum. I'm going to split your question into a new topic. Hopefully someone who's played this game on win98 will be able to help.

What have you tried so far, and what's the problem you're having?

I am able to install the game. But when I try to play the game, I just get a blank box that pops open and my computer locks up when I try to close it. I can't seem to get this game to start in DOS (so I guess DOS-BOX won't work....if it evens works in 98?!?)
I looked at the Virtual PC 2004, but that won't work in Windows 98. I guess there was a program Virtual PC 5.1 that might work, but I don't think that is around anymore.

Are you trying to run the game from within Windows (by double-clicking a .bat file or something)? What happens if you run from a DOS prompt, or quit to DOS and run it that way?

I'm not at home to look at the box, but I believe it won't run through DOS. It has to use windows to run the game.
I will double check it tonight.

Oops, sorry. I assumed it was a DOS game since you asked about DosBox.

Okay. I tried to install the game last night and this is what happened.
It seems to install okay, but once it installs it wants to start the game.
A screen pops up that shows "Video Reality" and a bar starts to fill up at the bottom of that screen. It gets about 3/4ths full, then it locks up. I hit control/alt/delete and I see a program "Vrdmfc (not responding".
I have to reboot my computer to get it to do anything. The game still won't run, but that is what happens every time I try to start the game.

I did a Google search for Vrdmfc and there aren't too many results, but the results I got make me think it could be driver related. (Could be wrong though.)

What kind of video card do you have? Might want to update your video drivers and see if that fixes the problem. It wouldn't hurt, anyway.

I will try to update my video card in a few days. My modem got fried in a lightning storm a few days ago. I am waiting for a replacement to come soon. I will let you know how it works.

I went and updated my video card, but it didn't help. Same lock up going on as before. I might have to wait for my next computer to try this game out.
