I think she means the hand icon, rather than the walk icon. It sounds like a bug, though, because Alexander shoudn't disappear like that. (I'm also not sure why the last riddle didn't work for you, because Ascend is the right answer.
)You shouldn't have to go back, though. A lot of the stuff in this game can be done in different orders, so just because another walkthrough listed some other stuff before the cliffs doesn't mean you have to do that stuff before you can get up the cliffs. |

Hmm. I have no idea what MMC/SD is (your H drive) but it doesn't look like a CD drive.
Is this a legal version of the game that's running off a CD? (Sorry, I have to ask... I can't imagine what else would cause it to try to access a drive that isn't the drive with the CD in it.) |

I'm pretty sure it's a legal copy. I picked it up at a garage sale and it came with the instructions.

Okay, yeah. I just wanted to make sure you hadn't downloaded it somewhere... I was thinking maybe it's looking for a CD that doesn't exist.
![]() Since H is removable media - what happens if you remove it? Another thing you could try is to copy the entire disk onto your hard drive, and then run setup.exe. |

I still don't understand why the King's Quest CD (which was presumably in one of the CD drives) would be trying to access that drive.
SMMM, I'll give this a try tonight and see if I can figure out a solution for you. |

Ugh. Okay, I know why you aren't getting a KQ6.bat file when you try to install. Since the install program is already on the C: drive, it thinks the game is already installed, and it reverts to only using that program to change settings. I feel like I figured out a way around this before, but I can't remember how. There might be a thread about it lying around here somewhere.
Anyway, I am attaching a KQ6.bat file and resource.cfg file. Put both of them in the same folder as the rest of what you copied onto your hard drive. It's okay to copy over the resource.cfg file that's already there. Then open the new resource.cfg file with Notepad and make sure that the CD drive it's looking for is the one your CD is in. (Mine is D.) Change it to the correct drive, and save the file. You *should* be okay to run the game now... let me know if it works! |

Erm... Sorry to barge in again, but I'm having a hard time following you two. Why run setup.exe (which is for the Windows version), only to end up using the DOS version (with kq6.bat / resource.cfg)?
Oh well, whatever works, I guess.

Sorry, I should have said - I didn't bother trying it with setup.exe at all, since I was never able to get the Windows version running on my computer.
To get the DOS version running and bypass this issue of it trying to read drive H, I think doing what I suggested above will work. |
