Default Phantasmagoria or Gabriel Knight II "Complete Installation" or DVD Version

Do anybody have any hints about making a full installation of Gabriel Knight II or Phantasmagoria, that is, installing the ENTIRE game on on the harddrive, with no needs to juggle CD's into the computer while playing...

Alternatively... do anybody know if its possible to make your own DVD version of the game?

Well, in theory you would just copy all of the files off of the cd-roms onto the hard drive, then run the setup program from the HD. I don't know if it'll work, though. Most games require the cd to be in the drive, so you may have to try to work around that.

Hendroz devised a way to get all of GK2 on to a DVD (or hard drive). Look here: http://www.gabrielknight2k.tk/

I don't know about Phantasmagoria...

Yes, Hendroz also has a full hard-disk installer for GK2, so there is no need to create a DVD (unless your hard disk can't take the full install).

For the record, just copying all the files to the hard disk manually (as opposed to using Hendroz's installer) would not work. For one thing, there are certain files with identical names but different contents from disc to disc.

Which does beg the question of what they did whilst developing the game. Did they really burn the game to CDs mid-production? Or did they just rename files to prevent easy copying?
