Default Where do i find Windows 95?

Is there any place on the web where i can download Windows 95?
Several of my old games won´t work on XP so i thought i might try to get my hands on Windows 95.

Windows 95 is a pretty old program so i thought that maybe Microsoft has made it available as Freeware.

I want the real version, not any "warez".

It might not be quite as simple as that. If you have a modern machine, not all the parts will be supported. For instance there might not be drivers for your graphics or audio cards. So you would be better off trying to find an old machine with '95 on it.

I´ve got 2 pcs.
The one i´m using right now, with XP.
And another one which is given to me by some friends, it´s a bit older, i´m pretty sure that Win95 would work on it.

Thanks for you´re help.

In a way it is too bad that LucasArts isn't like Microsoft...releasing anything with the idea of making a buck...then we might have...our game...

Another possibility is Windows 98. It's more stable than '95 and often runs older games much better than with XP.

Andy.

P.S. I just noticed one of the adverts at the top of the page was for a site selling '95 for older games! If you refresh enough you'll hit it!

I agree with the last post. I have a new machine and use Windows 98SE. It works with DOS and so far the only problem I have had with new games is with Vampire Bloodlines which crashes. Anything older than 98SE will not work right with a new machine (or so I am told).

Try E-Bay.

WinXP has a better compatability mode that win98se. If you both install and run the game in compatability mode and turn down the graphics and audio acceleration, reduce your screen resolution to 480 by 600 or 600 by 800, you will be able to run most games in WinXP. There are a few games that will not, by any adjustments run in XP - the only one I know of for sure is Amber: Journeys Beyond, because XP doesn't have some file needed to run the game, and uses some newer version that Amber can't use.

Yeah, and The Feeble Files, as I found out yesterday after trying several hours to run it

MH - have you tried Inferno's site? She's the game guru for XP. I didn't see Feeble files listed but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Inferno's site for XP compatability

I spent a long time searching for ways of getting The Feeble Files to work on WinXP. If anybody manages it I'll buy a hat purely for the purpose of eating it...

I was just reading all this cause I have a Windows 2000 XP and I want to play some older games. So I found this great deal where this person is selling thier old 95.
But heres my problem? Will this work to play all the older games that say 95/98? Or should I be looking for a 98 ?

Win98 is probably better. It's more stable.
