Need help with Kyrandia...
I'm talking about the text adventure game. I used to be a pretty high level on an old BBS, and I just now found the game again. All I remember is to kneel at the willow tree. After that, I'm lost. If anyone can help me out, that would be great! Thanks!

I've never heard of a text adventure named Kyrandia. Is this by Westwood?

You don't kneel at the willow tree in the graphic adventure. I'm confused.

I'm confused too. There are two versions of Kyrandia 1? Text and graphical?

After a length search of Baf's IF Guide and google, I'm rather convinced that Toad501 simply doesn't exist, and that that would explain why he's talking about a game that does not exist.

We both exist. :)
If you telnet to Seabreeze BBS (seabreeze.servegame.com) you can find it listed in the games. I guess this means no one knows anything that would be helpful. Hm...

If it helps at all, the authors are Richard Skurnick and Scott James Brinker, with help from Galacticomm.

Oh man, I used to run up such obscene phone bills on BBSs... Those things were the work of the devil, I tell you.

You're a detective.
I think it would just be easier if Toad sent everyone interested a copy of it in the E-mail... I'm curious about stolen ideas. At least I think I am. Maybe I should be doing something more with my life. |

These games sound too similar in concept (even though the plots are obviously different), to be the work of stolen ideas. I contrive that this may be some sort of text adventure prequel.
TELL ME WHERE TO DOWNLOAD IT. Or maybe someone could nicely offer to send it to me. Sounds interesting. I'm interested. That is because it is interesting. |

The easiest way to play it would be to try to find an old BBS still running w/ Telnet access that has it. There's GOT to be one somewhere For some reason I feel quite certain that the graphic adventure was, in fact, based on the text adventure. But I don't know why I'm thinking that... -Mongoose |

I think I found one, but I have to wait for my registration information to clear before I can play it. I also hope I don't have to pay for any of this...
But I mean, the games are too similar now that I've seen that walkthrough. Most striking the two similarities are the birthstone puzzles and the BIG mention of the Kyragem. The Kyragem links them together. How could two games with the same names both have two rather obscure objects based on the game's name? Anyways, neither of the guys that wrote Kyrandia, the graphic adventure, match up with the guys that wrote Kyrandia, the text adventure. Also I don't understand who you play as... is it Brandon? This is odd. I want answers from the developers of the Graphic Adventure. Adventuregamers should send their favorite reporter to the house of the guy that works at Westwood. |
