Sound issue with Yesterday

I got Yesterday off Steam a couple days back (no offense AG shop, only just found out you accept paypal as well) and having very choppy sound during the animations.

I posted the same question on the Pendulo forums and apparently one thing I could try to fix it is changing the resolution but for that the game needs to be installed on my laptop and I only have a shortcut from where on steam runs the game. Any way I can get to the resolution settings?

Another thing I could try is turning down the soundacceleration but that didn't work.

Anything else I can try? I'm using Windows XP and according to DXDIAG my device is called SoundMAX HD Audio O

Thanks in advance

I got an option to load the configuration editor (instead of starting the game up) when clicking the Yesterday shortcut from within my Steam library.

I don't have it installed anymore to look into it further though.

Wait I have a Steam library? How do I get there?

I found the library but Yesterday's not in it. Apparently I might need to activate it but I don't have a CD key for the game. What now?

I asked the same question at Steam support two days ago but I'm not getting a reply. Please guys I really need your help. It's been two weeks since I bought the game. I really wanna play it by now and it's driving me mad!
