Gray Matter won't start
HI,
A few days ago I downloaded Gray Matter. I now installed it, choosing not to install DirectX 9.0c because I have it already, and when I click on the icon on my desktop I get the error: "This application can not be started because d3dx9_43.dll can not be found. Reinstalling the application may solve this problem." Is reinstalling really the way to go? It takes very long. What is this dll file that can't be found? How to proceed from here? I use XP Home, SP 3. Thanks in advance! |

Sometimes a game needs a specific DirectX file and won't run without it, even if you have a newer version of DirectX installed. Rather than reinstalling the game, you could try running the DirectX setup that came with it.
For my Gray Matter install it's in My Documents\Gray Matter\Support\directX. (I can't remember if I chose to install to My Documents or if it went there automatically, but it should be easy enough to find.) There's a file in this folder called DXSETUP.exe that can be launched independently from the game's installer. |

Heed these wise words!!
Always install DX when a game asks you to, even when you have a higher version, the default DX setup from MS doesn't install everything
