Broken Sword 4 - exiting the centrifuge

Hi, I've got to the point where

Spoiler:
Maynard gets blown up in the centrifuge

I have picked up the keys and the documents but whenever I try to use the keys in the door Nico just says "No, that won't work here" or "Use them how?". If i stay there for too long or try to go up the stairs Martino's men try to shoot me :/

Is my game just broken?

Have you picked up everything you need in the area?
Are you using the keys on the right door?
