Amber: Journeys Beyond on XP

Is there a way to run Amber: Journeys Beyond on XP?

I've just retrieved the game but it won't start, no matter what...

It won't run natively in XP, no.

You'll need a virtual machine such as Virtual PC, and a copy of win98 to run within it.

Thanks. I downloaded Virtual PC and now I'm trying to set the correct driver, 'cause when I launch Amber pops up an error message about the video driver and 16 colors.

I followed this walkthrough to install Amber, but it still give me the error about the 16 colors. I searched and installed the original s3 driver, but nothing changes.

Anyone could help?

EDIT: It finds three different models: S3 Trio32/64 (S3 764), S3 trio32/64 PCI, S3 trio 64V+
Which one should I use?

I tried again but with no result.

I followed the walkthrough found on Quandary, and Windows 95 in the virtual machine works really well.

My problem is that, no matter what I do, Amber still tells me to set my display settings to 16 colors - which I already did.

Any help will be welcome, thanks...

Not 16 colors, 16 bit. The default driver is fine. You don't need to change drivers, just display settings. Right click on the desktop and choose properties. Go to the "Settings" tab and under "Color palette" choose High Color (16 bit).
