Vista & Dosbox

Will it work? Or will it go "poof!" like every other bit of software does with Windows Vista?

Yes, it will. Obviously, the newer versions are more compatible.

This is, of course, an answer to the "Will it work"-question, not to the question "will it go 'poof!'?"

There is no danger to your system. Some have encountered problems with permissions by not running DOSBox as an admin or having assigned the appropriate rights to the folders you run your games in. There may be issues with some graphics card that should be addressable with output= mode in the dosbox.conf. Lastly, switching to fullscreen may cause issues if you have old drivers installed. Over all there have been few problems.
